The more things change, the more they stay the same. Boundaries shift, new players step in; but power always finds a place to rest its head. We fought and bled alongside the Russians; we should've known they’d hate us for it. History is written by the victor, and here I am, thinking we'd won. But you bring down one enemy and they find someone even worse to replace him. Locations change, the rationale, the objective. Yesterday's enemies are today’s recruits. Train them to fight alongside you and pray they don’t eventually decide to hate you for it, too.

@Cabatli_TR @Yasar @Anmdt @Saithan @AlphaMike @TR_123456How well does the SSB do its job in turkey? What are the biggest challenges when it comes to finishing or maturing projects, tenders, etc? What could turkey do better, and which mistakes did they do in the early days that other countries can learn from when establishing a defense industry?

Got you brother! Is the Saudi SAMI or the edge group from UAE under their defense ministry? Yeah, i was asking because of some of the points you made, but I have also seen some discussion on the forum when it comes to tenders getting delayed in the Turkish naval projects, or armored vehicles.this is a good question and I know why you asking it . in are arab world we don't have any entity that resemble the turksih SSB . yes there are some defence companies and firms in the arab world but it's main issue that it belong directly inder the Defence Ministry , givin how arab defence ministries are corrupt to the bone , we can establish why arabs are shit in weapon manufacturing .
in turkey and as far as I undertsand , the SSB do not belong under the TSK command nor the turkish goverment cabint in order to prevent corruption from both sides . but it treated as a ministry and SSB dirctor Ismail Damir is a minister .
but what I didn't find the answer for is why SSB is under the office of the Turkish President !

TSKV own most of the companies like aselsan, TAi, roketsan etc? Where is the role of SSB, and why is the current model not ideal? How is the current model in turkey? I'm kind of confused and could need some clarification.Because it is under government control.
in 80’s TSGV var founded with the aim of strenghtening TAF. TSK had their own source of income to protect Turkey through acquisitions.
There were different power struggles and TSK had internally also varying perspectives and such, e.g. West vs East type.
So we didn’t have a decent proper defense industry ministry.
Current model isn’t ideal either as you can see from several projects as well as how political party affiliation get’s to harm and hamper projects. Best example is I-class frigate, BMC, Altay and you can probably add more to the list.
That doesn’t mean we should buy from abroad, some are retarded enough to jump on that argument or counterargument. Imo it’s proof that they’re just plain dumb.
corruption will exist as long as you don’t have checks and balances and death penalty to govern over peoples lives.
Allowing privat companies to be in defense sector is good because they can showcase their products with help from retired officers and such they can develop products that could gather interest.
giving these companies attention is something a defense ministry should prioritize.
Allah rahmet eylesin. R.I.P.
Hard-working people. Sad day for Türkiye.
Look at what it did to Altay MBT tender and the I-class frigate.TSKV own most of the companies like aselsan, TAi, roketsan etc? Where is the role of SSB, and why is the current model not ideal? How is the current model in turkey? I'm kind of confused and could need some clarification.
I have seen the issues when it comes to the Altay, and I class tender, and I understand that certain corruption is involved. But why? Do the SSB don't have enough power or is it because some of the companies are related directly to the defense ministry as @AWP stated? i don't know the structure of the Turkish defense industry..Look at what it did to Altay MBT tender and the I-class frigate.
You may not have followed the Altay MBT thread, but it’s full of discussions proving heavy government involvement. You should skim through the thread. It’s really not worth starting the discussion again.
