Interesting times we live in. Elon Musk, who is the owner of Twitter, who has more 115M followers, has openly encouraged people to vote for Republicans. And pinned the tweet on top of his page. The guy has balls made of titanium.

''Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.''

He uses a smart excuse so nobody can blame him for it ,no balls at all.

Tesla still receives subsidies for electric cars, SpaceX has contracts with NASA and launching satellites for DoD and has to receive launch license for each launch from FAA, Neuralink still waiting for FDA to approve its Brain-Computer-Interface to put into humans. So many involvement with government authorities and he still has the audacity to say "vote for the other party".

This is also a statement for the US State Institutes. It proves that they're really independent of the ruling party. If someone of his class pulled something like that in Turkey, he would be breathing the air of a windowless cell by now.

Im guessing you didnt understand the statement.

''Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.''

What he meant to say by this statement is that no side should have full power,so if the president is from the Democrats the Congress should be Republican and vice versa.

Does this tweet hurt the Democrats?

Of course, he has to put the statement in a context and feed it that way. And I don't think he would encourage people to vote for Democrats if the situation was vice-versa.

The "-lan" suffix is used with wild animals and it comes from Old Turkish. But the origin of the word is unclear. Some suggests that the suffix originates from the Chinese word "lon"(龙), which means Dragon.

I'm basing this explanation on "Nişanyan Etymological Dictionary".

Other animals with the suffix "lan": Sırtlan(Hyena), Yılan(Snake)

Thank you kindly! My assumption was it was related to cat/feline (since both are big cats), but it is broader than that clearly.

There is also the word "lan" used in colloquial language which has no specific translation but we love to use it when we're excited :)

Pardon me for asking but are you studying Turkish? Or did you come across these words by chance and you caught a pattern and got curious?

Well for some reason Aslan (from the C S Lewis stories) popped up in my head earlier (and I already knew the name was taken from Turkish) and I just wondered what Tiger was.

Also two of my best friends from Pakistan (one from school years and other from university) share the name cognate in Arsalan.

I have an interest in languages/linguistics and my mother tongue (Tamil) is agglutinative just like Turkish.

The earlier convos on this might be of interest to you (I just searched agglutinative against my name heh) :

Mehmet Öz, of Turkish origin, will run in the midterm elections of 8 November, the Republican senator candidate from the state of Pennsylvania.
He'll be the first muslim senator if he can win.

An ignorant question: The senators don't put their hands on bible during inauguration, right?

If they don't want to, no. Even presidents aren't required to swear on a Bible if they don't want to. Theodore Roosevelt didn't, for example. Kyrsten Sinema was sworn in using a copy of the US Constitution.

So Oz is quite free to use a copy of the Quran if he wants to, though I suspect he'll do it using a secular document since he already has the Turkish and Muslim factor against him (a fair amount of people I know who are going to vote for him are mostly doing so because Fetterman seems to have legitimate brain damage) plus he has a reputation for peddling snake oil remedies to people on his show. But the latter isn't really out of the ordinary for politics, so it's really just the former two factors that will play a key role.

How hard is it to ask for nations along with their soldiers being represented rather than this operator crap that has infected Cod and Battlefield.

I want soldiers not clowns. I dont have anything against operators that are soldiers and grounded in reality.

But its getting ridiculous how we are not getting nations and their soldiers nowadays.

Fortnite and overwatch are the worst things to happen to the gaming industry.

Eastern European developers regardless if they are Polish, Ukrainian and Russian do their best to give an authentic experience while Western developers are all about this bullshit skins and gay rights.
