The suggestion that Cavit Çağlar made in his interview with Cansu Çamlıbel was reflected in some foreign sources as "Turkey can sell it to India or Pakistan" and from there it bounced back to Turkey.

The Turkish army tested a long-range missile for the Hisar-O air defense system. The Turkish Hisar-O medium-range air defense system is expected to become the basis of Turkey's Steel Dome air defense system. The missile reportedly successfully hit a target at a distance of more than 40 kilometers. The Hisar-O air defense system was first unveiled by the Turkish company Aselsan in 2015. The Hisar-O air defense system is capable of detecting and tracking a fighter-type target at a distance of up to 60 km. On August 15, the Turkiye newspaper reported that Turkey intends to use Russian S-400 air defense systems until its own air defense system is created.

It's not a official statement by any means. It is just two sentences from an unimportant interview with a guy that was a Sports Minister back in the 90's, with very minimal connection to the current government. Spineless Turkish media made it big news for clickbait. When it became a big news in Turkish media then English-speaking media took it as if some kind of a official declaration of intent. So, it is just nothing. S-400's will just rot on their depots in Akıncı Air Force Base without ever seeing action or moving a single meter.

I thought, Göksur was the name of system and Bozdoğan would be used as missile in it. Göksur appears to be a missile .

So what is difference between göksur with Bozdoğan?
Navy changed the name of 3 army/air force systems so far. Umtas became Temren, Hisar became Sapan, and now Bozdoğan to Göksur IIR. See the same sentence changing in a year:

July 2023: "As an interceptor missile, GÖKSUR uses the BOZDOĞAN missile developed by TÜBİTAK-SAGE and updated according to the air defense needs of naval platforms."

August 2024: "As an interceptor missile, the system uses the GÖKSUR IIR missile developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE according to the air defense needs of naval platforms. Designed by adapting the BOZDOĞAN air-to-air missile to naval platforms and adding features such as bidirectional data link and vertical firing capability, the wind tunnel tests, one of the critical thresholds of the GÖKSUR IIR missile, were completed using TÜBİTAK SAGE infrastructure."

For once, it means less names, and I like it. Göksur CIWS and its Göksur IIR interceptor missile.

Interesting wording from Güler.

"This initiative, led by Germany, is an important step towards the fulfillment of NATO's requirements while ensuring interoperability and integration of allies. Turkey is ready to contribute to this initiative with a wide range of national capabilities. I would like to thank Germany for its coordinating role in this important initiative. We will be pleased to work with you in this initiative that serves the concept of collective defense"

So did Türkiye join ESSI for trying to sell Steel Dome to european countries?

Maybe, maybe something related to that. But ESSI as I understand it is less about joint development and more about pooling together money to buy the set systems Germany operates for the members, like the Patriot, Arrow 3, Iris-T etc. Maybe ESSI funds part of our Steel Dome for use in Turkey? Weirder things happened in the past, and this is a strategic matter.

RAM missiles have two passive RF emitters on their seeker. If a warship with RAM system and EW capabilty, under attack of antiship missiles with RF seeker J band, you have to shut down your ship based EW system otherwise jamming can lead interference with fired ram missile occur.Roketsan give up passive RF emitter on the seeker of levent missiles, and let alone IIR seeker.Beside some of the antiship missiles do not have RF seeker. So göksur system is a good solution on board missiles with dual band, cooled IIR seeker two way date link and 4 mach speed, thrust vektoring, plus stand alone aesa radar.

Need a more impressive name, like Titanium Dome :D :p

I think the person who named the Steel Dome should be dismissed😡

Such wannabe/copied names do not suit a country with a glorious and ancient history like ours.

It could have been one of the guardian spirits of Turk mythology, such as "Umay- Ayıısıt, Yayık, Suyla, Karlık, Kayberen, Utkuuçi, Aan Alahçın", etc.

For the first time, Ukraine discloses real missile interception rates, moving beyond 'all intercepted' claims—average success stands at 43%

Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, reported that from February 24, 2022, Russian missiles and drones struck 11,879 targets in Ukraine.

Civilian targets made up 53% of successful Russian strikes, hitting 6,203 targets, while military targets numbered 5,676

Missiles and Drones:

Total Missiles Launched: 9,590

Total Drones Launched: 13,997

Missiles Intercepted: 2,429 (25%)

Drones Intercepted: 5,972 (43%)

Cruise Missiles (Kalibr, Kh-555/101, R-500, Iskander):

Interception Rate: 67%

These cruise missiles are more effectively intercepted, with a significant proportion launched at strategic targets

Guided Missiles (Kh-59, Kh-35, Kh-31):

Interception Rate: 22%

Lower interception rate due to these missiles being launched at frontline or border targets with less layered air defense.

Drones (Shahed-136, Lancet):

Launched: 13,315

Intercepted: 8,836 (63%)

These drones were heavily targeted by air defense, resulting in a moderate interception success rate.

Ballistic Missiles (Iskander, Tochka-U, KN-23):

Launched: 1,388

Interception Rate: 4.5%

Extremely low interception rate, making these missiles a significant threat, particularly to civilian infrastructure.

Anti-Aircraft Missiles Modified to Hit Ground (S-300, S-400):

Launched: 3,008

Interception Rate: 0.63%

These missiles targeted 4,293 objects, primarily civilian (3,196) but also military (1,097).

Kh-22 and Kh-32 Missiles:

Launched: 362

Intercepted: 2 (0.55%)

These missiles, launched from Tu-22M3 bombers, require modern interception systems due to their speed and trajectory.

"Onyx" Missile:

Launched: 211

Intercepted: 12 (5.7%)

High-speed missile with a low interception rate, posing a significant risk to both civilian and military targets.

Hypersonic Weapons (Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal"):

Launched: 111

Intercepted: 28 (25%)

These hypersonic missiles mainly targeted civilian infrastructure, with a notable portion being intercepted.

"Zircon" Missile:

Launched: 6

Intercepted: 2

Struck civilian targets four times, demonstrating the challenges of intercepting truly hypersonic weapons.
