Thus, Tosyali Algeria awarded the company Globus Srl “a contract for the supply of a coil coating line which will be installed in the new factory for the production of flat steel products which is currently under construction in Oran”, specified Globus Srl in a press release. “The line, designed for a maximum speed of 210 m/min, will be the fastest coating line for steel coils in the world,” explained the same source, and added: “The installation will include a section tension leveling system and will be equipped with state-of-the-art process control functions, including closed-loop coating thickness control. » “This is the third contract awarded to Globus by Tosyalı in the last decade, after the previous ones for the coil coating line and for the voltage leveling section successfully installed in the Osmaniye factory. Last December, the vice-president of Tosyali Algeria, Alp Topcuoglu, announced the partial commissioning of the new flat steel production project “from June” next year. According to him, this first phase of the project will “produce 3 million tonnes of steel, while allowing export revenues to be tripled thanks to the marketing of products with greater added value”. The laminated plate production line will come into full operation during the second half of 2024. The number of workers will reach 6,500 workers. For the construction of this new factory, Mr. Topcuoglu indicated that the company "Tosyali" is considering an investment level of between 120 and 150 million dollars, stressing that this new production unit will allow a saving of foreign currencies for the Algeria of more than 60 million dollars/year. This unit will make it possible to produce high-end steels such as flat steels, hot and cold rolled steels, galvanized steel, he explained, adding that the steels produced will allow automobile and household appliance operators to raise their production rate. integration. Tosyali currently consumes 4 million tonnes/year of iron ore to produce different steels. With the commissioning of the Béchar production unit, Tosyali will consume 8 million tonnes/year, according to Mr. Topcuoglu, emphasizing the need to valorize local ore to reduce production costs. “The long-term goal is to achieve up to 80% steel production from local iron ore,” he said. During the inauguration of the Algerian Production Fair last December, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, visited the Tosyali Algeria stand, where he affirmed the importance given by the State to the steel sector. , particularly after the launch of exploitation of the Gara Djebilet mine. “With the launch of Gara Djebilet you will be able to increase your pace without importing. You will go up to 5 million tonnes and maybe even more,” he told the company representative, considering Tosyali to be a company well integrated into the economy.
