1. if it is BMC that is going to do the modernisation, then it is under new ownership. Give them a chance to correct all the wrongs made in the past.
2. Somebody has to start this modernisation. My understanding is Aselsan and Roketsan are in charge of this modernisation.
3. Current administration may be trying to clean BMC’s badly tarnished name by giving the actual work to Aselsan and Roketsan. (Good try!!)
4. There is nothing to mess up! These tanks are like metal coffins as they are. We saw how many of them were knocked out in quick succession in Al Bab Syria. They should not be in front line as they are.
5. As long as it is Aselsan and Roketsan doing this modernisation we should have full confidence in their work.
Wow, still trying to find a good thing in a deal with BMC??

- it does not matter who is in charge of BMC!! It is the capability of the company first!! A good management can not make something out of nothing!!

-if Aselsan and roketsan are in charge , why the hell is BMC is prime contractor but not subcontractor?? To give easy money to BMC instead of state companies?? Or BMC will make more money instead of state companies??

-additionally, Leo tanks are our most modern tanks , with only roketsan add on armor and Aselsan self defense system, they will be top notch. No need to give more money to BMC!!!

They should. This amazing success is entirely thanks to our great leader Erdoğan.

Boy am I glad we left this project in the capable hands of BMC. Really sound decisionmaking.

This is called leadership my friend.

If it was up to Otokar, we would still be waiting. oh wait o_O
So now you should admit that success of Bayraktar UAV belongs to Erdoğan.

No need to label ALTAY tank as Erdoğan's tank. Big mistake.

this is very political. don't piss of yasar, he will ban you

BMC is a %100 Turkish company, very patriotic. all other companies are jews.
We still shit on the bmc regularly here, But I have faith in this modernization project because of aselsan and roketsan. I hate bmc much as you do

I'don't know why my posts critical of BMC gets deleted then.

Let me tell you, as a mod and BMC & Erdogan critic, that 4 out of your 5 posts were deleted by you personally.

If you have complaints about the moderation, you can address them in the respective subforum.

M60T Sabra modernisation has proved to be very effective. It has shown how survivable this tank becomes in live battlefield conditions.
We have now updated these tanks further in to M60TM configuration.
We can do these modernisations in house. They need a 1000hp MTU engine.
We have an electrodiesel hybrid engine in MKE’s latest Firtina T-155 howitzer prototype that develops 1300hp with 10000Nm torque. This transmission-less engine with this amount of torque will make that tank fly.
For hitting other tanks, should the need arise, our current 120mm Tanok anti tank missile with 1-6km range can be used. Even a new version like the Lahat with up to 8 km can be made. This missile with it’s top attack mode can see off any battle tank before it can fire a sabot round.
Furnished with Akkor active protection suite, this tank will be better, cheaper and more effective than anything we have at the moment.
So why are we struggling to produce Batu + Transmission + Altay ?
Just a thought !!!

We need to develop a national compact 1500hp engine. We can use it on other platforms in the future. We can use it as a generator for a hybrid system. An engine family is a must for Türkiye.

1500 HP is too much for the generator in the serial hybrid system, there is no need for that much power. 800 HP is enough.

In addition, the Batu is already as compact an engine as it can be, due to the criteria it has to meet.

if you see german ship engines, its basically tank engine became bigger to power ships. once you have that engine, you can use them in ships and submarines with some modifications. Tumosan just recently Turned some of their engines to ship engine. it will go further once those are ready too..

The 2 greatest weak spots of Turkish defence industry:

1- no national engine tech

2- no domestic air defence
