@Gessler I was wondering if you could tell where to read about India's Next gen MBT program.
I couldn't find much info about it.

Bangalore-based company Alpha Design Technologies has signed an order to supply 400 Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) manufactured locally, which will be installed in tanks operated by the Indian Army. This, according to a Times of India report.

The technology is based on developments by Elbit Systems, which were transferred to Alpha Design as part of a collaboration between the companies.

The Times of India quoted a senior Alpha Design official who said that "The Indian Army took a significant step by ordering 400 SDR systems for some of its tanks. We have already signed the contract, and the manufacturing is underway.”

According to the contract, signed within the framework of the Army's emergency procurement, the SDRs are intended for all tanks in the future.

Thats great. The India - Israel defence relationship goes from strength to strength over time.

I was reading somewhere DRDO already develops SDRs.
Is there any particular reason why they bought it from Elbit system instead of indeginous solution?

If there is qualitative transfer of technology on it past what DRDO has accomplished....then it makes sense.

India has to further rationalise and prioritise its RnD at least 5 times more intensely than what it does now to push through a number of things vertically....so where Israel aids in this effort so India can have impetus to specifically concentrate far more on number of specific things it will not have access to from any other.... is welcome thing.
