US has been dragging it’s feet in issuing the export licences to Pakistan and Philippines for the honeywell engine, because it sees t-129 as a rival to it’s own helicopter sales. But as soon as we start flying our atak helicopter with TS1400 engine they will release those export licences as they can not afford to lose sales of 80-100 engines.
Are their even plans on using ts1400 with ATAK.. Any official statement?

I am hoping it is to do with the new Mildar millimetre radar. Also more armour and gun ammo taken in to the body of the heli With improved avionics and electronics. Also the use of TS1400 engine with it’s improved power output would improve this helicopter’s performance and allow it to carry more ammo.
One can only hope!!

Thought this was interesting bit of history on A-129 - vis-a-vis T-625 to T-629

"A129 LBH: A multipurpose assault helicopter version with a structure completely different from the standard A129s, having space for carrying eight soldiers in addition to the two crew. (The abbreviation LBH stands for Light Battlefield Helicopter.)

Gökbey expected to fly with domestic engine in december.

Is there no T_129 thread? Maybe I could not find it.

Anyway I noticed that for a long time there have been not T_129 deliveries. What is going on?

Do we have also an embargo on LHTEC engines?

TEI is supposed to hand TS1400 over this month, perhaps they’re holding back on the engines we have in stock, and exerting effort on the domestic engine integration.

I could imagine a hidden embargo, but at this point we don’t know.

Atak should be finished for TSK, in 2019 it was almost 50 delivered so ther will be no more.

Having enough helicopters is not the point. If we have embargoes this is a serious concern.

We cannot go on by just saying we have enough helicopters, we have enough tanks, we have enough drones etc.

There needs to be a grant plan to cope with these kind of "embargoes" on will of certain nations. We need something to retaliate (maybe put in contracts clauses of heavy fines by non delivery or something)

Look how Germany for instance retaliated against the US, when the US imposed a couple of years back heavy fines of billions to the German company Volkswagen. Germany said nothing but a year later Germany (through the EU) put 4.2bln euro fine on Google. Even Trump complained on TV that Germany was robbing the US, but he could not complain too loud as the US started it.

No the number is much higher as Jandarma and extra orders were placed. I do not remember the exact orders but it stands at more than 59 for sure.

There were 57 t-129 Atak deliveries as of June 2020.
Each one costs about 50 million dollars. These are expensive pieces of machinery and easy to bring down with man pads. They have their uses; and are vital in the battlefield. But as said above we have enough of them. Because they are light attack helicopters and the army really needs a heavier one now; We are going to be concentrating on the Atak2 heavy version.
original order was for 59 atak helicopters with 40 on option.
For each t-129 built we pay a good amount of money to Italy for their design input..
When we start building T-629 and atak 2 , as they will be our own designs we will not be paying any money to the Italians.

Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. (TAI) announced the first flight dates of ATAK-II Helicopter, HÜRJET Jet Evacuation Aircraft and National Combat Aircraft, which are under development. Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. (TUSAŞ) Board Member and General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel KOTİL was the guest of TRT Radio 1.
Prof. Dr. KOTIL; He announced that they aim to perform the first flights of Heavy Class Attack Helicopter (ATAK-II) and HÜRJET Jet Evolution and Light Attack Aircraft on March 18, 2023. On the same date, National Combat Aircraft (MMU) is expected to exit the hangar.
Prof. Dr. KOTİL emphasized that there are various difficulties in carrying out many projects together, but that the development of the aircraft in an integrated structure provides an advantage. "We Have Very Difficulty in Buying Subsystems" Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. Board Member and General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel KOTİL explained that they are faced with certain difficulties in subsystem procurement.
Prof. Dr. KOTİL, "although an official embargo on Turkey or we will have great difficulty in getting the subsystem. We are faced with very interesting things. You order abroad, although you order with the product code, an open valve is used instead of a closed valve. There are extreme slowdowns. "

Not only are other countries delaying delivery, it seems they are on purpose sabotaging the delivered equipment.
