That means S400 system is crap as well!
Have we just wasted 1.3 billion dollars?
If so ; not very good! 1.3 billion for f35’s , 1.3 billion for S400!!

How ever Azerbaijan managed to stop a good number of missiles with their Air defence. Shot down a few Russian built planes.

The main issue for Armenia is its small size and very limited budget.

This means with S-300 etc, it doesnt have much options on how to allocate these on the ground and protect them with suitable layers.

It would be different to larger, richer countries getting S-400.

I'm not going to say S-400 is a wonder-weapon (or one worth forgoing F-35 for).... but it is Armenia's small size and relative poverty that does them in lot more....as often when you acquire signfiicant system like S-300, the significance actually lies on what the support architecture and horizontal integration (w.r.t protection and tactical doctrine development availability) is like and what are your budgets and margins there.

France has stopped providing military related equipment to Russia after the Crimeean take over.
But still provided war criminal Haftar in Libya, who in turn worked for Russian interests there.
More over, UAE, KSA despite their war crimes in Yemen, and PKK affiliated YPG in Syria.
Not to mention numerous armed groups and shady organizations in Africa.

The S-400, crap or not, is just an excuse.
Israel has been worried of Turkey getting F-35s, so they would've come up with something else if the S-400 deal wasn't done.
The US works for Israel.

We certainly did. It was a profoundly stupid deal caused by absolutely petty reasons. We gained absolutely nothing from it aside from giving the US the finger, which doesnt do much beside some good domestic PR. The F-35 was far more valuable in that regard and the B-variant could have made our Anadolu LHD into a light aircraft carrier. Would have been real usefull in Libya...

We are going off topic now but it’s time for all of us to understand that even if Turkey didn’t go for the S-400 it wouldn’t EVER get the F-35s... at least until Turkey is in a Cold War with Israel. If it wasn’t the S-400s the US Congress would find another reason not to give us OUR planes (that we helped to build and we paid for):

Choose from Syria, or our actions in the Mediterranean, or human rights violations, lack of freedom of speech and democracy... and all stupid reasons that those hypocrites could use as a justification NOT TO EVER give us our planes.

Israel is flying it’s F-35s around Russian ADs in Syria all the time, Greece and Poland operate Russian ADs themselves, the UAE buys tech from Russia, China and NK... but all of them are getting the F-35s and nobody talks about CAATSA for them etc.

Turkey is right now perceived as an even bigger threat than Iran in the US, Israel, UAE, Saudis, Europe. How do you expect them to sell you such a plane?

Few days ago the Armenian president visited the UAE to discuss and increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries..... Can't be excluded the UAE might provide financial assistance to the Armenian armed forces.... The UAE are known to fund and equip every anti-Turkish nation/groups out there....

Armenia is a lost cause...how many billions do they need to rebuild their armed forces? If the Emiratis would like to throw money and actually have an impact they could fund the Greeks who actually have a decent military but I don't think it works that way (as in giving away billions of dollars for another's country military)

Fearing Turkish role, France wants international supervision in Nagorno-Karabakh

France wants international supervision to implement a ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict amid concerns in Paris that Russia and Turkey could strike a deal to cut out Western powers from future peace talks, the presidency said on Thursday.

Moscow co-chairs the Minsk group overseeing the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute with Washington and Paris, but they were not involved in the deal signed by Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to end six weeks of fighting over the enclave.

Since the ceasefire, Russia has held talks with Turkey, a key Azerbaijani ally and a harsh critic of the Minsk group, that could lead to Ankara deploying troops to the region.

“The end of the fighting should now allow the resumption of good faith negotiations in order to protect the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and ensure the return of tens of thousands of people who have fled their homes in recent weeks in good security conditions,” President Emmanuel Macron’s office said after calls with the Azerbaijani president and Armenian prime minister.

France’s population includes between 400,000 to 600,000 people of Armenian origin. Macron has been careful not to back a side in the conflict, but has faced criticism at home that he did not do enough to help Yerevan.

“We want the Minsk Group to play its role in defining the surveillance (of the ceasefire),” a French presidential official told reporters.

The source said Paris was pushing for “international supervision” of the ceasefire to allow the return of refugees, organise the return of foreign fighters, especially from Syria, and to start talks on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Relations between France and Turkey have been particularly bad for several months. Paris has accused Ankara of fuelling the crisis in the Caucuses.

“We understand that the Russians are talking to the Turks regarding a possible formula, which we don’t want, that would replicate the Astana (process) to divide their roles in this sensitive region,” the official said.

“We can’t have on one side Minsk and the other Astana. At one point the Russians have to make a choice.”

The Astana forum enabled Russia and Turkey to discuss between them how to handle the Syrian conflict and brush aside Western powers.

So, if Russia didn't took Crimea France would continue to supply Russia.
They are probably still supplying, just not the big and eye catching stuff.

Remember "I am closest to myself", so other than their own interests everyone else can go F themselves.

France is geographic position means it's not threatened by anyone because Germany and Britain are among the bunk mates.

So to have these three start going at each other, you need to take away the economy. ( in UK case Ireland and Scotland still poses a problem).
