Marines are trained like army infantry but with extra training on sea and the shores. They are just as effective as an average infantry men on land, if not better.

A comparatively weak Turkey has been causing absolute nightmares for Russia this year alone, from Syria to Libya back to Azerbaijan. What do you honestly think happens when Turkey is as strong as Russia? When we are weak we are constantly looking to kick ass, when we are strong we are back in the empire building game.

A strong Turkey will not longe be part of NATO alliance. Best thing what can happen to Russia. This price Russia would pay. Even in this situation. Turkey will not be „stronger“ than Russia and will still need partners in their region like Russia.
