We know that Greece will use all its „influence“ to hold us out of any contracts with any European country.

Greece is opposed to European defense funds—i.e., funds from the joint EU budget—being used to purchase Turkish weapons systems.

However, Greece has no significant influence on strategic cooperation decisions made by other countries such as the UK, Spain, or Italy. These countries have neither a strong Greek lobby nor a significant diaspora that could influence political decisions.

Furthermore, the UK is no longer a member of the European Union and is therefore not subject to the requirements and restrictions of the Brussels institutions.

In addition, Turkey is deliberately concluding bilateral cooperation agreements with individual EU member states such as Spain and Italy, thereby deliberately circumventing the EU as a whole. This means that such agreements take place outside the European institutional framework. Greece can do little to counter these developments.

If such arms purchases appear necessary, they are financed from the national budgets of the respective countries. This is often followed by indirect refinancing via the European single market or through returns from EU funds. Since the exports originate from an EU country, Greece has neither legal recourse nor political leverage to exert influence in such cases.

That's interesting to say the least. I'm sure there's a Czech company out there to supply the radar. This would be a very interesting program, we haven't heard anything about it. Surely not a joint project, as we have no radars for an airborne platform for now and and there's no way they choose to start such a big project with foreign radars for TurAF. So Havelsan is expected to be a contractor or a subcontractor for an Indonesian AWACS program.

HAVELSAN is a software company for the most part and currently there is no AWACS in production at least we know only a program from Baykar but that will most likely use Leonardo stuff.
If they want an awacs they would need a plane first and then a cooperative with aselsan and HAVELSAN

All 48 Indonesian Kaans will be delivered in 120 months (June 2035) . Indonesia also has an option for +12 fighters. TAI plans to deliver the last fighter in 2034 before the official deadline. All Indonesian fighters will have a national turbofan engine and all the fighters will have block 30 configuration. This means the first Indonesian fighter will probably be delivered in 2032.

Project is worth 10-15 billion dollars, depending on various terms and options.


On a side note, not related to Indonesia, Turkish Air Force air maintenance factories under ASFAT will have a vast capability to maintain and upgrade KAAN.

KAAN being a true 5th gen is contingent on the Turkish engine. If the engine is not ready for Indonesians by that date, it won't be ready for us either.

Actually, the situation with the engine is different. The Turkish engine is targeted to be ready by 2030, and work is progressing accordingly. The delivery schedule (starting from 2036–37) is determined solely based on the contract structure and production planning with Indonesia. So, it does not mean that the engine won’t be ready by that time.

we're going in circles. That post simply says the first delivery will begin in 11-12 years. It does not provide any rationale for the seemingly late deliveries. That was the origin of my speculation in the first place.

TAI has branch office for airframe designing in Bandung.
That's as far as I know.
