A news report published in February 2025 refers to a new order of 56 units; it is likely that this delivery is connected to that order.

First link is a pretty nice retelling of the events I mentioned. Horrible program if your idea is to arm your armed forces. It's pretty good if you plan to get rich though. We do know that Nurol can build and deliver, much much more quicker, see Estonia.

Aselsan will provide Muhafız/Smash 30mm RCWS' to Filipino Coast Guard to be installed on the 2(?) Teresa Magbanua Class patrol ships. Two sister ships are the largest vessels of the Filipino coast guard. They were built without a main deck gun but were FFBNW. Given value is nearly 7 million dollars, with a very basic perunit cost of 3.3 million per unit.

Portugal is planning to replace all their 5 frigates in two classes with a new, larger design, probably in batches for a total of 6 ships.

Bro, @Anmdt had clarified few years ago that Istif Class had found its natural size and weight limit in TCG Istanbul. So anything bigger and heavier is not going to be Istif Class.
Portuguese are looking for various classes of ships from 4000 tons up 5000 tons to 6000 tons; probably 2 each. (please see the translation below). Our Istanbul Class is a 3100 ton ship (A very light frigate).

Portugal has two overseas territories; Azores (1500km away) and Madeira (1000km away) out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean which is prone to heavy swells and adverse sea conditions. So they need ships with hulls that can manage the weather of the Atlantic ocean.

We can offer them smaller versions of our TF2000 destroyer. But would you want to buy a ship that is not even materialised? There has to be real good incentives to bring them round to us!

We need 4000 to 5000 ton ships ourselves. May be developing and building them together can be the incentives to swing them round.

Portugal don't have the money, manpower and expertise to operate 6 large frigates. Their tenders are always slow, small and take years to conclude with everchanging requirements. Present Istif with Euro equipment for Portugal do make sense. I expect to see 1-2 F110s for commonality with Spanish, and 2-4 other lighter designs to be picked, with very possibly seeing just 2 F110s and cancelling the rest, restarting a light frigate/heavy OPV program instead.
