Why am I pessimistic when I only tell the truth.
You give example with Norway but that is a country with a population of 5.5 million compared to Turkey’s 85 million so much more of what they produce can be exported abroad.

Their coastline is multiple times longer than that of Turkey+ the place is full of islands, fjords and bays which are perfect for fish farms.
Also they are located in the North Atlantic which is much more richer in fish than Turkey’s waters. That’s one of the reasons Norwegians to be an old sea faring nation with lots of traditions in fishing.

You misunderstood me. I wanted to point out that Norway's fish export is mainly based on aqua farming - a method that Turkey can utilize thanks to our geography and long coast lines.

Lets be realistic either norway or turkey will get rich from sea food industry but no doubt that kind of industry should get all incetives possible from state due employment effects and better protein base for general population.

You should see the documentary on Norwegian Salmon and how full of chemicals and dangerous stuff they are. But the idea is not bad, just need to properly protect the environment as well.

Anyway.....

Good, it's important to have such cooperations. Especially if we can lend money to Swedish companies and such as they are located in politically stable regions and can pay their debt. (IMO).

Idk tbh that is why iam asking

The government isn't supposed to meddle with the central bank in general. Central banks are supposed to be independent. Thats not the case in Turkey and even less so now that more and more personnel is removed and replaced by Erdogan.

This among other things results in the Lira losing value and billions of € in debt getting harder and harder to pay for the government or private companies.

Turkish Trade in the Last 4 Years.

View attachment 21838

> I have looked up the recent Trade deficit values for the Month of April and apparently its getting better. But the pace is interesting.

Not sure where the underlying numbers are from, here they are according to IMF database:

Turktrade.jpg

i.e there was a good improvement in 2019 in all (red box highlight) trade balance (goods only and goods + services combined) and also current account (first row at top) from years prior.

Goods + services balance even turned positive to about 19 billion USD and current account turned surplus (6.7 billion USD) for first time in very long time (the table only goes to 2005, and it was always deficit in this timeframe).

2020 however, things went back to lot of negative territory again in these areas.

We shall wait for 2021 full results later I guess.
