Interesting - they are further developing Hurkus to have composite structures. Hurkus II
something goes on wrong it is obvious,you can not change whole structure,my opinion is,they wanna get a bit lighter because TS 1400 less powerful from pratt whitney canada

Do we make a plane from imported Aluminium or do we make the plane from composite, of which the composite material is produced in Turkey and not imported. There's more to it then making the plane lighter.

The power level you mentioned about is in the form of turbo-shaft. Do you know what it is in turbo-prop form which can be used in Hürkuş?

They will be approximately the same (i.e assume 1400 shp met in current configuration for turboshaft, and same core used for turboprop).

Turboprop might have slightly more HP (and higher sfc and slight lower power/weight) as its max rpm (for the power turbine) will be higher given smaller diameter of prop compared to heli-rotor....but i doubt it will be more than 5% more.

There is precisely one assumption (the current turboshaft being developed meeting its stated objective).

The latter (conversion to turboprop, or vice versa) is pretty standard one keeping proven core same. Nothing being assumed there, its literally dictated by the rpm envelope.

@Nilgiri is correct!
Turboshaft or turboprop, they are both shaft driven. At shaft level the output of engine power is the same. Power transmitted at the propellers or to rotors level may vary a little bit due to different transmissions and different amounts of power losses. That is all!

This is what you are asking!
@ #742 you are getting the answer to your question.
Assumption is something taken for granted or supposition. This is not so. It is a fact. An engine that is a turboshaft can be easily converted to a turboprop. Instead of driving a rotor it will be driving a propeller. The power output does not change at the shaft level!
TS1400 can be used as a turboprop with simple modifications and an addition of a suitable transmission to drive the propeller. That is not an assumption! That is a fact!

Finally Hurkus is finding it’s way in to the ranks of TSK.
Both Gendarmerie and the Airforce may be getting the Hurkus-C Model, which is the weaponised version of the plane.

Finally Hurkus is finding it’s way in to the ranks of TSK.
Both Gendarmerie and the Airforce may be getting the Hurkus-C Model, which is the weaponised version of the plane.
We recently saw Hurkus with the insignia of the CSAR and JTAC fleet of the Air Forces. According to Tolga Ozbek other than support in CSAR operations Hurkus C will be most likely be a tool for training of the JTAC personnel.
