Tbh, I am also waiting for the boom sound, that's what the kid in me wants to hear. It'd be like when our first AShM was launched, you never forget the goosebumps. I'll just wait for official declaration then.

Are you expecting a one off boom sound? That's not what sonic boom is, its the continuous crackling sound
Not when you're stationary relative to the source of the sound. Let's wait for the official materiel.

So this was a peek into super sonic. Will they check data and see if anything unexpected has happened with the frame ? Then afterwards they'll conduct further super sonic flights longer time ?

It is not known when it happens, but towards the end of the flight-envelope opening tests, they will see the maximum speed of the aircraft, this flight consisted of a short supersonic sequence focused on testing whether or not to overcome the barrier

In supersonic aircrafts, surpassing the supersonic barrier is important. The drag coefficient increases rapidly as the aircraft nears the Mach 1. It then stays at high levels till about Mach 1.1-1.2 . After Mach1.2 it drops down hyperbolically. It is therefore not advisable to stay in transonic flight and just above Mach 1. Once in Mach 1.2 and above the drag decreases and it is easier to sustain supersonic flight, even though the drag itself carries on increasing with more speed.

That is why we will probably see serial production Hurjet at 1.4 Mach top speeds, going forward.

So the drag at 1.1-1.2 mach puts greater stress/burden on the airframe. Is it safe to assume we'll see several short time mach 1 flights to gather data before jumping on to 1.4 mach ?

The delay hinges on US gov approval of AMRAAM integration on FA-50 Block 2.

RTX/Raytheon, producer of PhantomStrike AESA radar (FA-50PL, FA-50MY) and AIM-120 is eager to get that approved.

LockheedMartin otherwise don‘t want a more capable competitor to their F-16V.

The outcome is uncertain but the US are stalling for time and delaying a decision.
During KF-21 development they first refused an integration of AMRAAM & AIM-9X Sidewinder. After Koreans signed a deal with MBDA Meteor and Diehl Defence IRIS-T the US suddenly "reassessed" and approved both missiles for integration.

Not sure if it was an overpromising of KAI or AIM-120 integration was never promised as 100% certainty in the contracts with Poland and Malaysia. For a fact, ROKAF doesn’t need BVR on FA-50 or want to pay/share the absurdly high integration costs. Expensive AIM-120s are reserved for superior fighter jets F-35, F-15k, KF-16 & KF-21.

This Polish opinion piece sums up the situation pretty well:
This is what we'll face with Hürjet as well. I think it's important to get the engines first before revealing anything about the combat configuration of Light Attack capabilities. But stupidity seems prevelant in our decision makers.

Order 90 engines for trainer jet. Start building them and then order 30 engines for light combat configuration and see the reaction

Let the good news of October 29 come from me.
Two prototypes of HÜRJET are flying this month. And the armed version.

May our existence be a gift to the Turkish existence...

I don't know about this specific case, but this guy is very unreliable. I remember him with his Altay "news".
This guy was officially warned because of some messages on various forums and made Mouth death a while. It's time for another warning. He is not allowed to make any announcements about Turkish defence developments.

Armed version is highly unlikely while EASA certification of the trainer version still continues.

I hope this guy (Tayfun Erdil) is right but first see than believe

Sorry, but who needs to get a warning ? I don't understand. People can share and post their pov. Do people need a certificate of some sort to post ?

HÜRJET's second prototype flew for the first time!

TAI: “ #HÜRJET The second prototype made its first flight in our free skies with the names of our martyrs! ✈️

✅ 10,000 feet altitude
✅ 200 knots speed
✅ 26 minutes flight time”

Just another step forward.
Also, I’m deeply touched by the gesture of writing the victims of attack on the plane

Remembering this post, looks like they fixed it.

Something, and it's purely opinion based, that I don't like about Hurjet is the front part of the canopy/the lip of where the fuselage ends and where the canopy plexi-glass starts...

I feel like the top half would look much better if it was symmetrical

Single seated hurjet with a bigger Radome, more fuel+payload as light combat aircraft. It would be an excellent quality choice for air forces that can't afford traditional expensive 4.5th gen fighter in numbers. (Usually costing $150-200 millions each)
