i wonder how much time it would take to revise the bypass ratio on the TF-6000 engine? TF-6000 is pretty much on par with F404 with the only exception being the bypass ratio.

If it doesn't happen in the UK and Ukraine, orders for engines from Russia and China are now reserved, no matter how bad it is. After this time, the design of Hürjet will not change, it's almost March.

We were in a similar situation with LM in TAI now we are better off without them.
Same thing can happen with GE. We can still do their work if they still want but they will not have any say in what we are doing, anyway.

They have no saying in tei!! They have less than 50 percent share. Having ge is a bonus for us!! Beside two, they have an engineering office in Türkiye aswell!!

f404 being the least powerful one they will all fly the Hurjet.
How much alteration the plane needs and how long time it will cost is another question. But it can be done.
Easiest one is EJ200. But since a good deal of parts come from Germany and they have a design input, it wouldn’t be very prudent to go with that engine unless the British side gives us Cast Iron guarantees. However, we can do a “T700TEI701D“ on this engine with the British, and produce a redesigned version under license from RR with most parts coming from UK and some being produced in house to start with. Then gradually increasing local input percentage.

Since the initial prototypes of Eurofighter first flew with a UK built Tornado engine, these engines can be considered too for the Hurjet prototypes.
Also the XG40 engine, from which EJ200 was derived, was designed and built by RR with 85% Uk government finance and the rest being met by RR. That should enable RR to be able to tweak EJ200 enough to make it “TJ200-TR201A”

To me it sounds unlikely that the F404 is sanctioned, reason the F404 design is more than 30 years old and that means it doesn't have any property rights anymore.

Everyone who can is free to reverse engineer that engine, same like we reverse engineered the Italian 76mm gun and are reverse engineering the 127mm gun.

Can they sanction it? Yes of course they can but seen how Turkiye is reverse engineering everything that is sanctioned it is IMO unlikely and calling for their product to be reverse engineered

The giving approval for the delivery of F110 without any problem while embargo on less powerful F404 is completely illogical and contrary to reality. It is unrealistic news or gossip for me that authority that doesn't impose an embargo on the engine of a promising stealth fighter aircraft imposes an embargo on the engine of a training aircraft prototypes.

Therefore, what needs to be done is not to take some misunderstandings or gossips seriously, except for official statements. If such a situation occurs, this issue will already be spoken by most authorized mouths, then we will talk about alternative courses. I think this is not the case at the moment.

Frankly, I can't think of a more reliable source than an engineer who personally took part in the project. By the way, the fact that the official authorities do not talk about this issue may be to prevent a new crisis between the USA and Turkey. Negotiations for the sale of F-16s will become more difficult in a crisis environment.
