Take it with some grain of salt. We just have to read between the line and tarik benang merah. Only handful people knows about the deal or should I say future deal, even them cant give guarantee that it will go thru as there are external factor to be count as well.

Soon or later the truth going to reveal itself, from 36 down to 18 (with option to go to 36) which is more reasonable with our pocket. Most likely some deals going to be signed but can only be effective in 2022 onward which may effect the delivery date.

One thing for sure, we are seriously going to spend more for harwat with allocated budget and extra budget on the next cycle. Kemenkeu seems to like the idea of more harwat budget addition as it might also help the economy.

We can be thrilled with the possibility of new assets, but lets not forget about the old one that need some loving

This MF cost $3 mil. It's definitely a joke

Wonder why Turkish SOM is not very popular in here. Cheaper, faster, similar range, continous development, and we have plenty of F-16 to fire it. The only drawback is the warhead.

SOM warhead is about 230 kg while SLAM-ER is 360 kg.

But it's still better than Harpoon (220 kg), Exocet (165 kg), and Sweden RBS-15 (200 kg).

260kg still can make a decent damage and hole in a warship and mission disabled it, even big and sturdy cargo ship could sinked by an AShM with lighter warhead than that (SS Atlantic Conveyor).

Should be, BPPT, LAPAN, PT DI and several research center in Indonesia like LIPI, UI, ITB, UGM actually capable to pull off such projects by providing necessary man power and facilities. There is several foreign firm capable to be main partner for such projects, like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Dassault, BAE System , Aero Vodochody and so on.

Definitely, and we need their help. Probably we will need the system documentation so the engineer can figure out how to integrate the new hardware to the system. Its not like it have the plug and play feature, you can't install new hardware and expect it to work without any integration work, you need to tweak the software so the new hardware can be recognized and able to communicate with the processing unit.

Just like when you buy new printer and first you need to install the driver first, or when you reinstall your laptop OS you also need to reinstall the driver.

But its possible ... perhaps, didn't Pakistan use western stuff for their Thunder on the newer variant?

We're not allowed to, KAI owns the IP rights to the design.

Why do we need to develop block 2 ourselves ? We can still develop it together with Korea like what is happening in CN 235 program with Casa/Airbus.
