KFX/IFX engineers from Indonesia support the continuation of the program by the way. So I dont get for people who dont engage with the program can talk like he know what is inside the program.
I remember Indonesia has withdrawn all engineer/personnel from South Korea amid the tensions, have they already returned?
And from what i heard/known the gap was filled with their own sources since the initial negotiations were failed. (ie. the financial issues)
How would Indonesia fit into project from this point own (in terms of a collaboration) after stalling the project for nearly 2 years? Koreans haven't waited, neither paused but moved onto the project at the planned schedule.

The engineers are returning after the design phase has been completed in 2019. CDR meeting took place in 2019 September for your information, so actually we are helping the design until the phase is ended and manufacturing is commenced since beginning of 2020. Indonesian engineers/designers come back to Indonesia in March 2020.

We are stalling the program interm of payment, but we are still helping them with our engineers until design phase is completed. They are all experience engineers/designers since the minimum age is 35 years old.

"Despite such a delay in payment, the Indonesian side has continued to send its researchers to South Korea to take part in the development process," Rep. Kim Joong-ro of the minor opposition Bareunmirae Party said during a parliamentary audit into the administration, voicing concern about technology leaks"

Yup, all Indonesian engineers has come back to Indonesia and hasnt returned yet to Korea. I believe what is needed at this phase is sending production engineers and I dont see any problem at it as KAI is still manufacturing 3 prototypes. There are still time before the 5 (fifth) prototype being manufactured in Indonesian Aerospace facility (if Indonesia participation still continues)

If i recall correctly Indonesia has withdrawn engineers a bit quicker than expected. and the withdrawal was not accociated with completion of a phase but rather pointing out to coronavirus outbreak (which Korea has handled remarkably well and my friends working in Korea were not affected adversely)

"In addition to the withheld payments, Indonesia did not send back the 114 technical specialists from its aerospace firm PT Dirgantara Indonesia, who were repatriated in March due to outbreaks of the coronavirus in South Korea. "

I was particularly was speaking about this.

Correct me if i am wrong but engineers' job is not done upon completion of design phase, there is a lot more to do in manufacturing, remakes-corrections-tests etc.

So we can easily assume, Indonesia is holding personnel back until a deal is reached, the way payments are frozen. And regarding to this,i have heard that Korea has already made up the loss in terms of personnel.

Anyway i personally hoped that, the bitter events wouldn't have happened and the cooperation for K/I F-X had gone at full pace.

No harm in letting some time play out this year and lets see. I have feeling this is all mostly above our pay grades here.

As i have told since the beginning of the issues, it is not really "usual" and not related the reasons actually told in interviews or statements :)

Yup, but the most jobs that requires a lot of designers (detail design) has already ended in the end of 2019. Of course the designers will keep working, particularly during the test phase and the test phase hasnt been started yet. There will be refining as well like what is also happening during N 219 program. Hopefully the deal can be reached soon.

Most of DI designers I believe currently working for N 245 program. Actually there is KFX/IFX center in DI as well, probably they are still communicating with the Korean team.

@anmdt Dont forget soon or later the center will be not only in KAI, but also in DI as well, particularly after the fifth prototype is started being manufactured in DI and the testing will be conducted by DI. Both Korean and Indonesia will share test data during testing period. We have prepared 6 test pilots for it, 5 from Air force and 1 from DI. Of course that thing will not happen if our gov decide to leave the program.

This is from DAPA Korea about 2 weeks ago. This is current state

DAPA stressed that Indonesia has expressed its intention to continue to participate in the KF-X project.

It also said that the two countries have been conducting negotiations in a mutually beneficial way through multiple working-level negotiations, adding when the negotiations are complete, the DAPA will disclose the results to the nation.

I dont know bro about TOT I am not DI engineers but regardless about TOT, we have already gotten design experience for STEALTH fighter jet since 2011 (the start of the program). For TOT matter, we need to wait the renegotiation (if Indonesia is still continuing).

That kind of thing is also a sensitive matter, I think the one that has the authority to talk about that is the project manager and he of course will only say something about that in front of the reporter if there is any reporter dare to ask (he of course also knows what kind of information can be released and which one cannot) , currently Indonesian reporters are not really pro active about the KFX/IFX program, usually they are just translating Korean media and some just use Mindef Spokeperson (who is basically a former politician) to get some update.

Agree to all of the above. Korea play a good move by inviting Indonesia President for the launching thus give us the political pressure to respon the IFX issue, good move from them 😁 . Will the President attend? Or politely turn down due to "schedule" issue? Perhaps sending someone to accept the invitation? It would be interesting to see our respond as it might reflect our standing to the project. :giggle:
