Sadly that is indeed the case. And to think of it ChiCom hacking is rather crude in comparison to the let say US or Kosher cyber tools. But what they lack in quality they make it up in quantity. By crude, I'm talking about their spyware bot use the same method over and over again and can't seem to be able to anticipate my move. Its just rinse & repeat in the same pattern.

I'm a bit confuse with the choice of La Fayette class though. But I believe such discussion should be in TNI-AL thread. Anyway it merely Statement of Intent. Does the preliminary contract have been granted?

the latest "rumour" said the la fayette is a no go , french refuse / won't decomissioned la fayette until their FDI (Frégates de taille intermédiaire ) replacement is ready .

With Trump's influence dwindling down day by day, I think 08 doesn't need to think about it too much.
I think they'll see how next administration "see" us before take any decisions.

It actually contrary, Typhoon is not that smooth sailling as solution for interim fighter project. For near term project all depend on the leeway of interim program funding and the solution US had to offer. But to get more F16 is no way, either newly built or second hand. Boeing actually got more chance

And right now MoD seems fixed with Rafale to fill newly built fighter needs for MEF III.
