The leak about MQ-9 and MQ-1C was actually from the official TNI AD youtube channel.

Here take a look at 0.11 sec :

Yup, I knew that too and I also ever watched that. "Leak" that I meant here is "the list", the list after that RAPIM 2021. What is written on the list is just "MALE Drone" without stating the name of the drones. Gitu....🙂🙂

The writer is pessimistic about the maintenance, but it's understandable, I respect his opinion.

"That would present a major challenge to Indonesia. It already has difficulties maintaining the army’s eight sophisticated AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, which have been barely visible since they were delivered nearly three years ago."

And also, he also said about Predator drone.

"Known as unmanned aerial combat vehicles (UACVs), the Predators are a surprise addition to the shopping list, but Indonesia has been operating unarmed Chinese, Israeli and French-made surveillance drones for three years."

I will still hold about that Predator. We still don't have any "bocoran" at least about it, this one is the first time that said Predator is in the wish list.

Addition: And also I can found "error" a bit about, he said 3 C-130J instead of 15.
The writer must be living in a cave all this time. The AH-64E Guardians have been participating in Garuda Shield Exercise and recently in Kartika Yudha Exercise.

Well he did live in a cave (figuratively) But then again what do you expect from an entitled & privileged white guy, particularly a journalist❓ A quick look at his writings, and his biography where he used to live in Priok, I've noticed he tends to play religious card, and there is always an undertone that if something were done by non white is always bad. It also seems that yellow journalism is in his blood, and also in his daughter (whose interviewed Assenge, who walk out from the interview on screen). His wife is also a journalist. Anyway he did seem to fly around the South East Asia region a lot before this great plague. He live in Bali (very typical)

Israel doesn't need them in the first place, as they usually put all of the Avionic system on their fighter by themselves. Literally, they just bought the platform, engine and some stuff but they are working the state of system by themselves. From all of the US allies only Israel who can get this special treatment because they can do it and most of their system is hand off from the other US allies
That and the US benefits a lot from Israeli companies doing alot of the R&D work for technologies that they eventually co-opt and produce with their own prime contractors.

Russians are well behind
The Russian electro-optic/electronics industry is around 20-15 years behind the United States, and they are 10-8 years behind the Chinese.

Thinking that Russia can produce electronics that can match or surpass that of her adversaries, let alone even clearing them for export if they do, is a the dumbest thing you can assume.

Taiwan seems to have a problem regarding operating US and French fighter at the same time.

could F-15 EX launch MICA or Rafale launches AMRAAMs?? this could spell trouble.
If operating the U.S. and French fighters is trouble for them, then what is operating the U.S. and Russian fighters like us called?

Anyway, from the article it's likely because of poor planning in procurement.
The ROCAF has always had a troubled history with their Mirages, not on just operational readiness, but the fact that they've often had shortages of spare parts.

"Upgraded and new fighters are essential for Taiwan's air force, with its Northrop F-5s in need of replacement and around half of its Dassault Mirage 2000s grounded due to a lack of spare parts."

Also, Taiwan's Mirage fleet was only upgraded to the latest standard in 2018. For comparison, the UAE's fleet of Mirages were all fully upgraded in 2003. Pretty sure a country with an economy like Taiwan wouldn't have problems upgrading their fleet even with the corruption that takes place.

It's gotten so bad, that their MinDef is considering scrapping their fleet and going for a full F-16V fleet.

Keeping in mind that China was never happy with Dassault selling the Mirages in the first place.

Point is, don't think the French won't sideline us just to appease the Chinese. Yes, the ROCAF do overuse their Mirages due to their strict operational requirements, but a country like Taiwan shouldn't have any problems buying large stocks of spares with their economy, unless someone is deliberately lobbying against it.

They're going to sell us the Rafale now to make a buck, but think twice if you think that they would help support our fleet in the case of a political incident with the PRC.

this is one reason why I always prefer US jets, it's the US that have bipartisan issues with China. they will support us even as we have political incident with PRC.

if they stop Rafale (and any other weapon) support to us and India because of PRC pressure, Isn't that going to paint them as unreliable supplier?
and Taiwan case is kind of special if you think about it.

who knows, if they think that the advantage of doing so is better, than who could stop them anyway??

Considering that's what happened with Taiwan, they're already an unreliable supplier in this context. People keep saying how France doesn't care what you do with their stuff unless you're literally bombing Paris when in reality they have very likely caved under Chinese pressure. It has happened before, to think that we'd be an exception in this scenario is foolhardy.

Remember, France has bigger economical trade with China than us. Until that changes don't think that they won't sell us out from under the rug. Money talks a lot more than image, as money can buy you image.

So we won't get support from France to use Rafale against China and we're also wary about our F-15EX capability without EPAWSS against China's maritime platform SAM.

Basically we're fucked.

But hey, always look for the positive no matter what. At least we will outnumber and outfirepower our neighbour lousy Sukhoi fleet so hopefully they will stay away from Ambalat now.

Ah yes there is nothing better than made in Usa.......
Considering current geopolitical situation, that is indeed the case. For the time being, at least. If we still insist to go with Su-35, China is operating 24 of it, so they're already familiar with its strengths and quirks.

Not to mention that it's a challenge for the end user (us) to integrate its ilk with the rest of our Western-made stuffs as well as how expensive it is to operate and maintain them.
