It is not about mentality, it is basically how most of them run the business. Even the brightess mind will find it hard to place long term plan to happen due to rules, regulation, etc. This situation force them in a way to only able to conduct short term plan thus becoming opportunist. 😁
I think "run the state-owned enterprises" will be more fitting here. They're neck deep with bureaucracy and unrelated whatnots like having to document and display the visitations of mr. X or mrs.Y who are more often than not have no real business there. Or that their wives' also think that they're important enough to exist in the company's news front page, and so on, and so on...

Gahhh!!!

While there are some private companies here that can design and produce much better things at (probably) much lower cost, but yeah, we all know how tight their grips on the market in this country which is already small to begin with.

Many improvements were made to the tank during the transition from prototype to mass production. In this context, driver visibility and handling ergonomics have been improved. The body design was perfected in line with the feedback from the end user.

Based on the experiences gained from the tests, improvements were made in the tower system, power transmission group, cooling system and suspension system.

There is LCD screen for the driver, does the driver have night vision cam like the gunner and commander? So they can drive it without turning on the light.

Ok now this new Kaplan NG-AFV hull is exactly the same as the Medium Tank APC. Will this be the Medium Tank APC/IFV? Credit to Stuka.

Need a rework on the crew compartmen and powerpack.

This is why i always pick front located power pack rather than in rear, beacuse of its generability to be concerted into TD, SPG, APC, etc.

Told you when Pindad has leaked those images, that all of those were things available in FNSS's brochures (that is made available to partners ans customers). Sadly they took it and made it available in their own as if their own product.

Pardon my language, but that's fucking scummy, holy shit.

How did you guys manage to put up with that I have no idea.

What do you mean?

Product improvement is quite normal.
And for a prototype to have a lot of change that is jot so surprising.
what surprising are (i) the surprise from the end users and (ii) the rampant narratives that in short says Pindad and FNSS produced a flawed tank design, when it is actually based on the inputs from the end users

well hopefully the improvements made to Kaplan/Harimau Hitam will satisfy all parties involved and we can move forward with serial productions of the tank to replace those obsolete 13s and Scorpions

Since Indonesian Army will be the sole user of the tank for the foreseeable future, I still hope - albeit, most likely, vainly - that they will state it as it really is: It is a tank developed for Indonesian Army which most of the works were done by FNSS.

Anyway, I usually have some reservations anytime we became the first export customer for any military hardwares. But I make an exception for this, especially considering that even though the tank is the first tank export of FNSS, but this was developed with our army's specifications and requirements in mind.
