Or it's just in our dream?
Just . don't . take . the . red . pill.

Seriously, please someone correct me if I'm wrong here. As far as I understand it, 6 FREMM and 2 Maestrale are a done deal. So is the deal for 2 AH140, probably... Now about 6 (or 8?) Mogami, I wonder if recent development in the region will make our MoD to announce it publicly in the next few days / weeks or maybe it will remains tightly under wrap until next year or so.

All I know is that in January there will be a defense show in Japan, so...

contract should be available/open to the public even in this "pandemic time"
I agreed, but it must be at the right time, to know how they spend the tax payer money. Did u already know about Madam C "koar -koar" a few months ago?
And the govt should be ready for any incoming critics; despite a lot of people deny it, we do had war brewing at SCS that directly affect our ZEE.
At this point, i trust the MoD and govern knew what the right things to do. Well about the contracts and another "gembar gembor" it's just for fun to heard as military enthusiast.

my questions are, do we already sign any contract for any of those ships?
FREMM

Arrowhead 140
–License Deal

"Babcock has agreed a license deal for PAL to manufacture Arrowhead 140 (AH140) frigate, which was designed “with speed and maneuverability in mind”.

– Acquisition

"The Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday that PAL will build two new frigates with specific design specifications to meet the requirements of the Indonesian Navy. The value of the joint production remains undisclosed".

I just realized, the numbers (price) are undisclosed. Or what value is that actually?

Looks like still only Babcock–PAL licence deal. Navy want to buy 2 was Prabowo's statement, but possibly the contract between Navy and PAL already existed too, don't know.

I wonder if we have already sent our engineers to Japan and if that's the case, whether they have signed an NDA or similar which forbids them to reveal anything to the public.
despite anything happened in SCS, this is still peacetime. The Govt could undisclosed the price, tech spec etc, but the an effective contract should be made public.

After this AUKUS and U216 gossip, Japanese offer become kind of "kurang menggigit"...

(D*mn it, I think my wibu soul got a really big "cobaan" right now)
did Nippon offer us Li-Po Suryo?

Yes I largely agree.

Hence Indonesia needs a large commitment to Navy going forward.

Out of interest what was the breakup in Indonesia military spending for 2019 (or a recent year) among army, AF and Navy?

I think a useful starting point. i.e is split like 40/20/40 or 40/30/30 etc currently.

@AlphaMike you have any idea what this split is for Indonesia? It does full budget by TNI (easy to find ~ 9 billion USD)....but given combined nature of military structure I guess its hard to find it split by "service branch"?

$600 million for 1 submarine iirc. I don't even know what kind of 2nd hand submarine with that price.

AH already make some video about it months ago. The MinDef want to use that $600 million for Submarine Rescue vessel instead iirc.

In case you've missed it.

Jakarta approves plan to obtain USD600 million loan for interim submarine programme

The Indonesian Ministry of Finance (MoF) has granted approval for the country to obtain up to USD600 million in foreign loans to procure at least one second-hand submarine for the Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut: TNI-AL).

Documents provided to Janes by industry sources indicate that the approval was granted for the Interim Readiness Submarine Class (IRSC) programme, which seeks to temporarily fill gaps in the TNI-AL's underwater warfare capabilities with boats retired by other navies while the service awaits the delivery of new vessels.

The programme calls for a submarine class that displaces between 1,800–2,800 tonnes. However, the documents seen by Janes did not specify the expected number of hulls that will be procured.

The approved loan quantum for the IRSC was reached in consultation with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of National Development Planning (Kementerian Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional: BAPPENAS).

The TNI-AL operates a fleet of four diesel-electric submarines (SSKs) comprised of three Nagapasa (DSME 209/1400)-class boats, and one Cakra (Type 209/1300)-class SSK, KRI Cakra (401). A second Cakra-class boat, KRI Nanggala (402), sank in the Bali Sea in April 2021 killing everyone onboard.

This Made me worry when government easily approved weapon purchase for readiness sake, it is something brewing amid pandemic?

Really, reallocating money for submarime rescue vessel. That contract should be a different case.

I dont know why folks here still eager to keep Masseur Guy and Students post as a milestone.
