Bahtera Sriwijaya Bridge Project to Cost Rp15 Trillion​

Palembang: The South Sumatra provincial government has said that the construction of the proposed Bahtera Sriwijaya bridge is estimated to cost around Rp15 trillion.

According to The South Sumatra Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency Head Dharma Budi, the 13.5-kilometer brige is planned to connect Tanjung Tapak, Ogan Koemering Ilir, South Sumatra Province and Sebangin, South Bangka, Bangka Belitung Province.

Expected to be the longest bridge in Indonesia, the design of the Bahtera Sriwija bridge would be similar with the design of East Java Province's Suramadu bridge.

"South Sumatra Governor and Bangka Belitung Governor recently held a meeting with Minister of Public Works and Public Housing," said the South Sumatra official here on Friday.

If the project is fully realized, the bridge would significantly cut travel time from South Sumatra Province and Bangka Belitung to only around 45 minutes.

"We hope that the central government is willing to support the project. So, it can get National Strategic Project status. If the status is given, the central government will fund the project," the official explained.

SHARES The Public Works and Housing Ministry has vowed to expedite the preparation of seven infrastructure projects worth Rp 76.37 trillion (US$5.4 billion), funded through public-private partnership (PPP) schemes, to progress by early next year, as it seeks to lure more private investment. They consist of six toll road and bridge projects with a total investment of Rp 70.4 trillion, as well as the Djuanda drinking water system (SPAM) in Purwakarta, West Java, worth around Rp 5.9 trillion, according to PUPR infrastructure financing director general Eko “Heri” Djoeli Heripoerwanto. Road construction, meanwhile, includes the 31.1-kilometer Bogor-Serpong via Parung toll road, initiated by PT Pamapersada Nusantara, the subsidiary of publicly listed heavy equipment distributor PT United Tractors, according to a ministry document. A good documentary still about Indonesia past infrastructure railway system, back in 1974 Indonesia still quite backward enough to continue the using of steam powered tram and Locomotive in major city in Java island

Btw, i wish the government of Surabaya to revive tram system in Surabaya or better to invest more on Metro system or the likes of LRT

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Kementerian Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat (PUPR) tengah gencar membangun jalan tol di berbagai daerah guna memudahkan akses dan mobilitas masyarakat untuk meningkatkan perekonomian dan daya saing. Kepala Badan Pengatur Jalan Tol (BPJT) Kementerian PUPR Danang Parikesit mengatakan hingga akhir tahun 2024, Indonesia akan memiliki 4.800 kilometer jalan tol yang beroperasi. "Pada akhir tahun 2024 diperkirakan akan ada 4.800 kilometer jalan tol beroperasi," kata Danang dalam diskusi virtual penerapan aspek sosial dan lingkungan dalam pembangunan jalan tol di Jakarta, Jumat (13/11/2020). Danang menjelaskan, tahun lalu saja sudah ada 2.300 kilometer jalan tol yang telah beroperasi. Baca juga: BPTJ Sebut Pandemi Tak Berdampak Pada Investasi Jalan Tol Sementara untuk periode 2019-2024, Kementerian PUPR ditugaskan oleh Presiden Joko Widodo membangun kembali jalan tol sepanjang 2.500 kilometer.

Menurut Danang, berdasarkan data Ditjen Bina Marga Kementerian PUPR, bahwa network ultimate (jaringan akhir) yang masuk dalam jaringan jalan nasional dirancang sepanjang 18.000 kilometer. "Jadi kita perlu kerja keras untuk mencapai 18.000 kilometer jaringan jalan, termasuk tol di Indonesia," ujarnya. Karena itu, butuh sustainability (keberlanjutan) dalam membangun proyek jalan tol tersebut. Setidaknya, ada tiga hal yang selalu dipegang oleh BPJT dalam mendukung keberlanjutan pembangunan jalan tol ini, yaitu transformasi, inovasi dan modernisasi. "Transformasi itu artinya penciptaan nilai tambah. Kedua inovasi artinya tumbuhnya gagasan baru, dan modernisasi adalah user experience dan manajemen jalan tol yang lebih bagus, mulai dari sistem transaksi, lalu lintas dan aset infrastruktur," tutur Danang.

MLFF Untuk mendukung itu, BPJT tengah mengembangkan sistem kemudahan bertranskasi di jalan tol dengan menggunakan sistem Multi Line Free Flow (MLFF). Dengan sistem tersebut pengendara yang masuk ke jalan tol tidak perlu lagi antre bayar tarif tol melalui karcis. "MLFF ini tengah dikembangkan dan kalau berhasil barangkali akan jadi yang pertama di dunia menggunakan sistem tersebut," kata Danang. Sejauh ini global navigation satelite system (GNSS) yang ada di Eropa, hanya digunakan transkasi untuk kendaraan-kendaraan berat. Sedangkan MLFF yang akan berlaku pada 2023 mendatang tidak hanya kendaraan berat tapi juga mobil golongan satu, dapat menggunakan sistem tersebut. Danang memastikan penandatanganan kontrak sistem MLFF ini dilakukan Januari 2021.

Indonesia will add 4800Km of Highway in the next 4 years.

Indonesian government has invested on the so called "tol laut" or sea highway, not to be misinterpreted, it's not a highway in a traditional sense, instead of using roads it uses ships to transport goods and materials all across the vastness of the countries, to reduce cost and achieve parity on that of outer Indonesian territory with that of Java.

Key to this "tol laut" is the ships, the government invest on local shipbuilding, churning transport as well as passanger ships to creating local jobs in the process, hitting two birds with one pebble. there are tens if not hundreds of this ships launched already.

Will this be finished by 2024 along with the Trans-Sumatran autobahn?

As a third generation of Surabaya resident, I certainly hope it doesn't, at least not in the short term (5 years)

Is there a particular reason why?
  • There isn't space for it. Surabaya roads are kinda narrow in most places but high density.
  • Bad policymaking practice that basically only seek praises by the mainstream medias (which around here could be bought)
  • River based transportation is far more viable due to how the river system crossing all important part of the city. It will need plenty of station though because there are plenty of floodgates along the rivers stream
  • Bus is also more viable, not to mention cheaper since it doesn't require additional infrastructure. There are already few electric city bus currently in operation. But again bad policymaking practice is in the way.
  • Majority of people here (lower to low-medium income type) doesn't want to use public transport.

Better build it earlier than late.
The city limit can't get any larger. Again keep in mind the general mentality of peoples in Indonesia colonies and local condition are a lot different from those from Jabodetabek. Furthermore, Surabaya has already had tram system back in the late 19th - early 20th century. Around here if we need mass transport there is the RIVER system. Doesn't need some fancy (expensive) MRT, LRT, or whatever
