There is no competition in that one. The competition will be for 6x6.

I remembered this one from 2018 (if my memory serves me right) that's why I claimed a competition

I believe you said they are going with BMC 8x8 especially thanks to level of localization.
I looked and it.

I Guess it is pretty Local but I mean the Engine could also be used on another Vehicle

Do you perhaps know how many of those 1162 are 6x6 and 8x8 ? or any Prices ?

Basestudio developed and reached a very good level in a short time and produce critical parts which most of defence companies still import it .. they should start use its products

I think we need a Leopard 1 modernization program, Our Leopard 1A5s can become much better than M60Ts due to much better power/weight ratio.

The Leopard 1 armour is so weak, even a 30/35 mm round would make Swiss cheese, perhaps except the front....and when you uoparmour it, there goes the power/weight ratio....the 105 mm gun? Not up to the task against relative modern tanks, fitting it with a 120 mm gun, well the turret can't handle the stress....so long story short...naaaahhh

I though we didn't have the A5 variant but only A1 and A3. If we had the latest A5 variant then there would definitely be room for modernization and upgrade considering the Canadians modernized theirs to a relatively basic decent third generation mbt, thought the limited capabilties of its main armament would still be an issue.

Arma is the worst choice .. it uses nearly 100% foreign subsystem ... In contrary to bmc which uses domestic engine and domestic drive line .. otokar products are directed to export ..but with their current very low domestic components ..they wont be preferred locally unless they start to follow the ssb strategy and uses local subs like what bmc and fnss are doing

Armor being weak is the whole point. What use is rolled homogenous steel? it's better if there's less of it. You get more room for modern composites.

105mm gun is more than enough. Most of our tank losses have been in Syria. Where there were no enemy tanks. We never needed the 120.

Leopard 2s should be guarding the Greek border where there's a modern army. Aim of the Leopard 1T upgrade would be reducing the workload of Leopard 2s and future Altay fleet in 2030s.

Why don't we recycle the metal and produce some Kaplan BT with 105mm. I mean if we have them in our inventory then it won't be an issue to second them to TN when we get MBT rolling out the factories...

We can get the turrent for export , but not for ourselves. The turret will be developed first and then we have already got the know-how of the vehicle :).

The only way for BMC to lose an 8x8 contract is that they perform extremely badly at fields tests like not completing the test track. Even if BMC 8x8 is %30-40 worse than its competitor it will be selected. It is a done deal.

Or unless their competitor start using domestic subs 🙂 bmc is doing a great efforts to ssb strategy regarding developing .. testing .. qualification , integration and using of local subs to reach a compelete domestic system ..
Fnss also started to do so
