Mete Yarar: "We came to a time where terrorists even have armored vehicles or they are behind cement covers that can be destroyed only by tanks. The following is my personal opinion: We have serious inventory of 105mm ammunition. Maybe we could apply Malaysia model especially for asymmetric threats here. For me the best solution is 105mm even on tracked vehicles."

FNSS CEO Nail Kurt: "We see this concept in many countries. We know well that the General Staff and the Land Forces are thinking about that but there is still no project."

Mete Yarar: "But it will probably happen."

FNSS CEO Nail Kurt: "It will happen. The specific here is that we will need a national turret because nobody would give it to us. We know that Aselsan is working on it. MKEK also have the capacity to design the cannon. It would have to be a special cannon with its recoil but it could be done. We even proposed a joint offer with Aselsan to Indonesia but they found the whole process a little bit slow and as we know Belgium established itself in the market so we decided to at least deliver the platform and save that part for ourselves (smiles)."

3 military vehicle manufacturers are enough. FNSS, Otokar and BMC should share the whole market by purchasing the little manufacturer like Tumosan or Katmeciler. If they really want to grow up fast, they have to invest and expand.
Tumosan is tractor manufacturer and has been working for the betterment of the nation since 60’s they just recently produced indigenous engine. They should remain as themselves and offer engine to entire defense sector.

I think it was smart decision of FNSS and it succeeded which means they got customers and exported. They still have other products to offer and a happy customer will come again.

I doubt if this is going to be Indonesia. Pindad has listed that APC in their own catalogue even while the design is obviously from FNSS. I think the customer could be someone else in the region such as Malaysia.
FNSS CEO, when asked about some other projects in past and offering those to the Indonesia as a benefit of Kaplan MT cooperation ,he did reply 'it will take time, not anytime soon but somebody in the region may happen before'.

What critical tech or components does otokar produce ? They have handsome designs.. ok ..but The gov prefers the locality rate and firms that share in nationalization efforts .. in near future bmc will be a corps that produce ~100% local systems including the power group and drive train ...will otokar have chance against them
Years ago, they produced engines.

Not only designed and produced in Turkey, it's also licence produced in China. It's not wise to claim BMC has more experience on engines when compared to Otosan/Otokar.

Is it there any Ford/Otosan/Otokar engine running on Otokar Military vehicle?
or is it there any development of Ford/Otosan/Otokar engine for Military?
They have a Euro 6 class engine, the military vehicle engine remains child's play next to it. Using the same infrastructure, they can easily build a military vehicle engine in euro 3-4 standard.

It belongs to ford ... They cant use it in military purposes without a permission from ford ...otokar doesnt have the majority share of the company ...if it was belings to them entirely ...they would have used it in their armoured vehicles

If you delve further into it you will see that the engine Ford-Otosan developed wasn't without assistance from foreign partners. Such as Bosch who provides the electronic engine-management system. BMC and TUMOSAN are developing every .mm of their engines themselves with the rights belonging to them or SSM. Hence, does Ford-Otosan have capabilities to develop and produce engine management system? I think not.

These newer players are pushing ahead, the dinosaurs are stagnant.
