If a missile has a range more than 300km and can carry explosives more than 500kg, you are not supposed to sell it under MTCR (missiles’s technology control regime) rules.

The MTCR is not a treaty and does not impose any legally binding obligations on partners (members). Rather, it is an informal political understanding among states that seek to limit the proliferation of missiles and missile technology.

15. Are the MTCR’s Guidelines binding?

No – the MTCR is not a treaty and does not impose any legally binding obligations on Partners. The only activity prohibited absolutely by the Guidelines, to which all 35 Partner countries voluntarily subscribe, is the export of production facilities for Category I MTCR Annex items.

MTCR is kind of a joke at this point, in a world where the US has started handing out Tomahawks like they are oranges in the grocery

But hey, it is still on the table as a potential card to be used against Turkiye because they try their best to even catch a fly if it will get us in some trouble.

This is why you see ROKETSAN designating Tayfun's range as 280 km even though we all know this is not the case. (Let's add Kara Atmaca with 400+ km range but designated as 280 km anyway too)

Same US, however, will impose sanctions if you contradict this regime agreement and even sell technology or parts contrary to MTCR.
It is a tough world with too much hypocrisy. India, a non NATO member buys one s400 after another and is not sanctioned. In fact offered f35s. We, an ally NATO member are thrown out of f35 program and sanctioned.

There is a different rule book for every country. It is written by the strong so that they can bully the weaker.

that i know but i mean has it been tested at least. i saw a new siper missile in an interview with tübitak a month ago
I doubt any serious tests have happened. Some subsystem tests might be in progress. Aselsan will deliver the seeker of Siper 3 in 2028. Even if Aselsan delivers an early prototype no serious tests can be done before 2027. Ballistic tests with telemetry can be done in 2026&2027.

Finally

As part of IDEF 2025, under the participation of our President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, contract ceremonies were held between ROKETSAN and KALE JET Motorları for the “Mass Production Engine Supply for Cruise Missiles”. 🤝🚀

The KTJ-3200, KTJ-3700, and KTJ-1750 turbojet engines—set to power platforms like SOM, ATMACA, KARA ATMACA, and ÇAKIR—mark a major milestone in Türkiye’s indigenous propulsion systems development.

@TheInsider Is Tayfun-4 a proper Hypersonic missile or not? Heard some people on voicechat on X saying it's not. What do you think?
It depends on what you mean. Every ballistic missile that is longer than a certain range is a hypersonic missile. After that comes the question: Does ground impact happen at hypersonic speeds? For me, if ground impact happens at hypersonic speeds, it is a hypersonic missile; if not, then it is not. There is no official info on Tayfun block 4, but i'm suspicious that impact happens at hypersonic speeds, so it is a hypersonic missile for me.

Wide adjustable speed range(between mach 2 and 5) and wide engegement envelope is two qualities of this missile that no other AA ramjet missile in the world has.

Meteor, for example, has difficulties in some engagement envelopes at certain angles. Speed adjustability is also very narrow and not precise.
