Morocco to host a joint military training center with the US Army (African Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Center – AMTEC)

The center will have three main components, all to be built in the city of Tan-Tan, Morocco, with completion targeted by 2030:
  • Multi-Domain Training Area (MDTA)
  • Drone Academy
  • Innovation and Experimentation Center

The Multi-Domain Training Area (MDTA) complex will provide a dedicated physical space to ensure that forces and systems are ready to operate effectively in diverse environments. A key feature of this area is its ability to operate across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, including in contested or jammed environments and against electronic threats.

A key feature of this area is its ability to operate across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, including in contested or jammed environments and against electronic threats.

The Innovation and Experimentation Center will rapidly develop, test, and evaluate emerging capabilities, focusing on low-cost, scalable solutions to support counterterrorism operations and regional security. Collaborative efforts will also seek to establish partnerships with universities and academic institutions by engaging experts and academic bodies within multidisciplinary design teams.

General Mohamed Beriz, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, as saying: “Morocco’s readiness, which is reflected in its available infrastructure and qualified human resources, ensures a rapid transition from the conceptual stage to operational reality, and provides Moroccan and American industries with a reliable partner capable of supporting joint innovation and creating export opportunities.
