Notice the additional horizontal panel that the Turkish U214 has on the leading edge of the sail compared to the Greek U214 that doesn't - This is where Aselsan's Active Operating Sonar is located.

Another year for the Istif.

As much as this becames frustrating, it is understandable I guess. I just hope the systems/weapons will be ready by then and the following ship projects will be done much more quickly.

İsmail Demir: "We are developing a kamikaze unmanned submarine that can be used in submarines."

İsmail Demir's statement 2 years ago
This rather can be a loitering type of torpedo, running on an ideal speed with passive motion modes to track & hunt.

Possibly they will be using the common structure of SDV for that purpose too.

Then this question arises, UUV project has been around for a decade or so but why wasn't there any proper studies on underwater autonomous motion and related mission planning-decision making?

As expected, Siper Naval Blk-1 missile will be quadpack configuration. This will make Iclass have very effective defence capability compared to competitor's solution.
It is said that the missile without booster will be quadpack, if so than range will be ~40km for blk 1, but blk 2 should provide more range

We may have to look for config like:

- 8 cell = 8 siper blk 1 (100km)
- 4 cell = 16 siper blk1 without booster (40km)
- 4 cell = 16 ESSM

40missiles, not bad

40km?

That's Hisar O+

Also, Siper Naval Bl1 is not the one we have seen tests of, it is from the OG Siper family, so it doesn't have a booster, it is not a boosterless version of Siper Bl0 (or Bl1 idk exactly)

It will definetly have more, and imo it is a better option than ESSM, it is really good to have Siper Naval Bl1 with around 100 (probably) range and Hisar Naval (probably RF or O+) with 35-40km coverage, short range is covered by Gökdeniz-ER and Gökdeniz

40+km is Hisar-Rf itself bro and will alr3ady be used as a quad pack in MIDAS. The Siper-Deniz Blk-1 will probably be a modified Siper Blk-1 to be a quad-packable and I expect it to reach ranges around 70km if not 100km.

I wonder when we can see Super Block 1 and Siper-D

İstif with Siper-D will be a huge leap

According to Ibrahim Sunnetci, the original Siper missile (not the one that is Hisar-RF + booster) will be quadpacked. This original missile that is without a booster is supposed to have a range of 150 km in the land version so the naval version should be comparable. He also said that the Siper missiles would be integrated at a later step, so TCG Istanbul might have only quadpacked ESSM/Hisar in the beginning.

Quadpacking long-range missiles will be a huge technical achievement. In I-class, The Navy most likely sees the target picture as 32 point defense missiles (ESSM or Hisar-RF) plus 32 long-range Siper for area defense. This makes an extremely solid air defense ship in the Mediterranean and certainly outstrips anything Turkish Navy currently has. We are getting a lot of mileage out of this small tonnage frigate.

I would like to see later I class with 32 VLS, that will be a different beast

Italian Bergamini class for example is 6,700 tons and has a 16-cell VLS for 16 Aster missiles. In the French navy, AFAIK, the most air-defense capable ships are one with 32 VLS and one with 48 VLS for the same number of missiles as Aster missiles are not quadpacked. The Belharra classes France foisted on Greece will have a 16-cell to begin with and will be updated to 32-cell in the future with a configuration of 16 point defense missiles and 16 long-range. And these are all much heavier ships. The I-class having 32 short-range, 32 long-range missiles would be a dream.

We might have designed the MIDLAS VLS as wider and longer than other VLS systems in order to make Siper quadpackable and altered the hull designs accordingly.

Mr. Sünnetçi says at following posts:

Bahsettiğim SİPER ile bugünlerde atışları yapılan SİPER farklı füzeler onda booster yok...

SİPER DENİZ denilebilir simdilik...

İlk asamada HİSAR-O+/RF ve ESSM QuadPack SİPER ilerleyen süreçte...

With the SIPER I mentioned, these days the shooting is SIPER different slopes, it's a booster on it...
For now, it can be called SİPER NAVAL...
In the first phase, within the scope of HİSAR-O+/ESSM. QuadPack SİPER later...
