Have the weapon systems been specified in the hisar class OPV? As far as I understood the design is based on the ada class, with almost the same displacement at 2400 tons?

Nice, it's indeed very similar to Ada class, both are considered corvettes. What's the difference between this two? Electronics? Is the price of the opv specified in the information that has been published, I remember that a year ago someone mentioned that the price of the opv would decrease by around 40 % compared to the ada class after all the turkish weapons, and subsystems get matured.

As you know, almost all of the major cost items in combat ships are the navionic and weapon systems, so combatant equipments. Hull construction and sail equipment have a more limited share in the total cost. Also, If you look at the ship's propulsion system, you'll see that the engine room consists of diesel engines.

The doctrine behind the HISAR class OPVs is to have a design concept that is suitable for considerably economic operations in peacetime(as an offshore patrol vessels), but allows configuration changes without extensive re-construction activities in case of any crisis. A similar approach can be seen in the newly built OPV frigates of the Italian navy.

Just to add to @dBSPL ’s post;
According to unverified estimations, Ada class corvette costs around 260million US dollars.
Basic OPV based on same hull will cost in the vicinity of 110 million dollars. But this cost quickly escalates as you start adding those weapons. (A RAM System alone is best part of 25 million dollars)
As mentioned, OPV is a slower vessel as it doesn’t have a gas turbine to propel it. I’s electronics and radar is cheaper. It is for off shore patrolling missions. But not for open seas.
Beauty of it is that, as Ada Class has been built in a modular format, it is more tolerant to quick additions of weapons and electronics as and when needed. They can even carry ULAQ USVs. This will give them stand off weapons usage range.

Nice! How much will the OPV cost when you add the same weapon systems as @dBSPL mentioned in the Hisar format? The flexibility in quick changes in electronics/ Weapons without extensive work is a big plus :)

It is based on Ada-Class, that is why. In near future it may reach 90% or even 100% cost of Ada class with all equipments installed (full version) but once Ada class receives the MLU the ratio will go down to 60 - 70%

Ada class will receive EA/ED, Second generation ESM, Cenk-S, IRST, and AD missiles in MLU.

The further note is written based on MLU expectations od Ada class.

While OPV will incorporate Mar-D in place of Cenk-S, Low tier ESM in place of ARES series, Compact EA in place of full EA / ED system. While rest of ammunition is close except the Gokdeniz - and Turkish PDMS.

Can any senior turkish mamber explain why 10 OPV ? Why not instead 4 or 6 I class frigate ? What is the strategic logic behined it ? Because it seems to me, in high intensity conflict environment OPV won't perform as good as I class frigate even if it is fitted with extra weapons and sensors . @Anmdt @Yasar.

The turkish navy will Recieve 4 I class frigates. The first frigate TCG Istanbul got launched last year, and the 3 others are awaiting a decision on which shipyard that will manufacture the rest of the 3 frigates. The OPV will not perform as well as the istanbull class frigate because it's based on the ada class corvette. In wartime, the OPV could get more weapons as well, as electronics without any big construction activities as @dBSPL and @Yasar mentioned. Every warship serves its purpose but i guess your question was more about why the Turkish navy just doesn't use all its money on a additional 4/6 frigates instead of 10 OPV.

Ada class is a design that’s already sailing. While er don’t even have an I class frigate sailing. Simple as that.

FFBNW is not something I like. We need to be ready always ready.

OPV should be furbished, properly.

I class is based in Ada class, so?

OPV will serve its duty in patrolling, taking load of frigates and corvettes on escort duties, providing patrol and protection in peace times, escorting flotillas, roaming around while real warships will focus at real warfare, not escort or protection duties.

I could have precised myself better, i meant what you just wrote. Every warship from opv all the way up to airfraft carriers serve its purpose in its own way.
