I've never been a fan of him but bravo

I think the most important thing here isn't CHP replacing AKP. It's Turks having enough of shitty leadership. These protests are due to an accumulation of years of frustration. I don't think they're just a message to AKP, but also whichever party replaces them.

AKP's internal and external policies have screwed over the average Turk. Particularly in the past few years, AKP has been all talk, no action. Worst part is the western media keeps talking about Erdoğan as if he's some type of foreign policy mastermind. In reality, he's been pathetic.

To be fair with Western media, they are comparing him to European leaders like Merkel, Sholtz, David Cameron, Boris Johnson, François Hollande, etc.

So if you have such “leaders” as the benchmark, Erdogan can look like a mastermind…

Not only that, it's all because Türkiye has a better military, access to fresh water sources, control over bosphorus and is a bridge between east-west... all these attributes make Türkiye a geopolitical powerhouse. With that said the government has completely mismanaged these advantages in its attempt to cling into power.

A geographically critical position for sure, but two big issues (not speaking exclusively):

a) natural resources / energy independence
b) access to open ocean

The irony is that the Ottomans had by far the dominant hand over the Safavids throughout their history (maybe not always I only learn as much as satisfies my curiosities). If they had prioritized controlling the Iranian Plateau, and successfully held it, or at least configured it as a very culturally proximal society like the Balkan Muslim countries. The situation today may have been much more advantageous.

Mr. Cem Küçük: “Tomorrow is the big day, those who called for a boycott will be called to testify. Murat Daltaban, Emre Kınay and Aybüke Pusat are among those who will be called upon for the boycott call.”

I am almost certain that this journalist knows every single name to testify at every single case even before the DA but I can not prove it 😇
