Both journalists were known to prove the allegations against Mayor of Istanbul were fabrications and hearsay.

As increasingly getting usual with these detention cases now, although both informed the Istanbul DA’s office that they would be available in the morning to testify as they’re requested, they were, according to new norm, taken from their homes at “dawn raids” during wee small hours of the morning by the police as if they intended to run away.

Those so called dawn raids not only serve to strike fear among opponents, journalists in particular, but also give DA option of to treating suspects as criminals and they had to be brought to detention under force rather than show up voluntarily for questioning.

Opposition describes this tactic as implementation of the law of the enemy (org: The Feindstrafrecht "Criminal Law of the Enemy") which describes certain people, as enemies of the society (or the state) and as such, do not deserve the protections of the civil or penal law.

Another reason why the opposition is not any better than the ruling party and nothing in Türkiye will change with a change of the regime.
I find it still hilarious how most of the opposition parties united before the last presidential election and after many meetings they decided to put forward KK as their candidate, who lost several elections before that. And people still expect something from this opposition.
And not to forget how the youth reacted before and after the opposition put KK forward, from "I hope that old loser doesn't become a candidate." to "We love you Gramps, you are so sympathetic.".

I think party police is not a reliable source similar to TUIK. According to TUIK inflation is %38, unemployment is %9. If you have a reliable source, I will apologize and i will delete my massage but i refuse to buy into AKP propaganda. They are going for house arrests and digital handcuffs because there are currently no capacity in prisons. In spring and summer protests tend to increase. If protests continue they will arrest thousands of people they are getting ready for this. They believe if they arrest CHP members who works at CHP district and city presidincies, CHP youth organization and women organiation protests will naturally die without organizers. CHP has 1.9 million members.

In Turkiye total prison capacity is 301.397 inmates. Currently, there are 384.216 inmates in prison.

This is more than speculation, and you know it. You can choose to believe "official" inflation and unemployment figures. Quote "official" sources and blame anyone who is not believing utter propaganda as speculative.

Let me give you one example. Lockheed Martin declared force majeure in November 2024 for the Turkish utility helicopter project T-70. We only learned it in April 2025 after Lockheed announced it. They hid it from everyone for six months. They gave gag orders to Turkish defense press.

This is politics topic and half of politics is speculation.

And i want to add that i think the reason why the opposition can't rule for two decades now is, that they are as incompetent as the ruling party. But they don't accept this, so they can't get any better. Best example is the last presidential election. IMO they had a very good chance, but they had to make KK as their candidate. Six parties came together and CHP had to force the worst candidate ever. Which also shows how much CHP cares about democracy. And not to forget how KK became the head of CHP, in a very democratic way indeed. The opposition first has to sweep in front of their own door.

I am not writing this to defend anyone, i just want a better Türkiye.
