After the F500C project, we won't have any problems with FLIRs anymore. Aselflir-600 is like a prestige project.

Hope ATAK Faz-III will include a new FLIR.
If F-500C doesn't see a major delay I think phase III will include a new FLIR. I don't think R400D is a leap that is big enough to justify a new FLIR.

F-500C is a premium product with HD thermal sensor. This is probably an F500C gimbal with CATS sensors. No matter how much you improve CATS there will always be a performance hit due to its design. If I'm designing a next-generation premium F500C with the exact size of the CATS why not redesign CATS with the new gimbal and updated algorithms and call it MEROPS.

In short, this might be the cut-down version of the F500C that will replace CATS and be cost-effective for tactical(TB2) and light MALE(Anka) class UAVs while the F500C will be a premium product for heavy MALE(Aksungur, Akıncı-C) UAVs. Aselflir-600 will be the best of the line offering solution for high altitude(40k+ feet) observation(Akıncı B 2x750HP and Akıncı 2x950HP) versions.

Aselsan says MEROPS provides the same level of image quality and detail at 20km compared to what CATS provides at 12-15km (depending on the CATS version obviously latest batch of CATS has better performance). This is an increase of %33- %66.

BTW F-500C will have both HD SWIR and HD MWIR sensors.

So for MEROPS is optimized CATS we are saying? :( However, Aselsan didn't stay late for this? Let's awake after sold 500 TB2.

F-500C and CATS have fundumantrally diffrent working principles

CATS works on the princple of combined image processing

F-500C is more like MX 15 type provides long distance single imaging (remeber the two SU 27 boming snake island watched by TB2 from 107 km)

No. This is not what I said at all. What I said is it is probably a cut-down F500C that uses CATS level sensors(or maybe the 1024*768 sensor of R400D) rather than HD sensors so it will basically replace CATS and MX-15 for tactical and light MALE UAVs as a cost-effective upgrade. While the F500C will be a premium product with its HD sensors and will be offered for higher altitude heavy male and strategic UAVs.

Something like that.
TB2,Anka MEROPS ~20-25k feet up to 30kft.
Aksungur,Akıncı 2x450hp F500C ~30k feet up to 40kft.
Akıncı 2x750hp, 2x950hp 40k+ft AselFLIR-600(when it is ready)

I think TB2s should use a lighter and cheaper EO like MX-10. I think TAF requirements are being overkill for such a small UAV. A fully strike focused variant of TB2 should be developed with a lighter/cheaper EO and less loiter time.

Yes, using MX-15 level FLIR for TB2 is overkill. Anka is fine with MX-15 though. Most of the time TB2 operates under 20k feet and closer to the target. There is no need to get insane-quality videos from 100+km with TB2. With a more appropriate EO targeting system, TB2 can be even more cost-effective. MX-15 is really expensive and MX-15 covers a big portion of the cost associated with a TB2.

I wonder if someone will come up with a smaller TB2 replacement powered by the new PG-50S engine. At like 325kg take of weight it could work wonders. It could be used for missions where a TB2 is too much.

Perfect export potential for countries with low-budget for defence acquisitions. Shipped with Mam-C.
