Yes, but it is not really suitable for A-A engagements. It is good for tracking slow-moving air vehicles which fly at lower altitudes than the F-16.

Apparently, Chicken's head has high level of stabilization.
Could it have military applications?🤔
Don't laugh, just a thought.

I heard very encouraging news regarding the first iteration of MURAD AESA on Akıncı. Hürjet, Akıncı, Kızılelma, KAAN (MURAD-based BURFIS), and F-16 will have MURAD radar. That will make Turkiye the number 1 nation in Europe with the most amount of GaN AESA radars. I also heard some range figures (tested against airforce F-16s) but let's not disclose them. All I can say is it is magnitudes better than our current capability. MURAD is not expected to be available for mass production in the short to medium term.

Not mass produced medium to short term means 5-10 years, that's really not good news

WOOOO! LET'S GOOO
...MURAD is not expected to be available for mass production in the short to medium term.
And now I'm sad.

On a more serious note, if we can produce a more achieveable number, say about 30-40, will it be enough? Can our network centric warfare capabilities allow us to utilize this admittedly moderate capability to a game changing extent? Let me rephrase the question: can this be integrated to a few platforms that will in turn allow other platforms to 'see'?

If Akinci has MURAD AESA with exceptional range and it can carry at least 2x Gokhan, it may very become a credible hybrid BVR platform.

Unlike, conventional solid fuel BVR A2A weapon which require being launched at supersonic speed and high altitude to maximise its effective range and no escape zone, Gokhan's extraordinary ramjet engine will compensate for Akinci's lack of speed and high altitude, and it’s NEZ would still be large enough to keep slow and non-manoeuvrable AkincI out of adversary’s effective engagement zone.

Anyway, this my speculation and I am no expert on the topic.
Also, the question remains if Akinci's twin engine can provide enough power to MURAD so it can enable its full GaN potential.

It started good but ended bad. If MURAD can't be mass produced in the coming years I wonder what's going to happen to BURFIS for Kaan, which is scheduled to fly with Kaan in 2028.

Why will Turkiye place a high cost AESA radar on weak cheap drones/aircrafts like akinci , hurjet , kizilemla etc ?!
They can just replace f16 radars with Murad while those f16 radas can be placed in akinci , hurjets etc if they can modified them .

Is there a globally accepted test standard by which we can measure the performance of AESA Radars?

Like someone above said, wouldn’t that be a waste of ressources to put a valuable radar like Murad in every aircrafts, especially drones ? And does anybody know how much is the cost of such a radar ?

I guess MURAD will cost $2.5 millions.
And APG-83 cost around $2.5 millions.

While MURAD uses superior and relatively expensive GaN components, however Turkish hardwares are usually considerably cost effective compared to US hardwares.

The ubiquity of AESA radars has come in defiance of its cost, which, for example, ranges between $3.5 million for the APG-79 and $5.5 million for the APG-82, according to U.S. budget documents.

- The F-16 AESA upgrade was initially estimated to cost $1 million per aircraft, but the decline in radar competitors has affected the cost.
- Raytheon is promoting a new low-cost AESA radar that can be used on various aircraft types, including legacy fighters.
- Raytheon has also unveiled a compact AESA radar made of gallium nitride, which weighs about 59kg (130lb) and is about one third the weight of current radars on sale. It is expected to be more cost-effective.
- The U.S. Navy has awarded a $41 million contract to Raytheon for 15 AN/APG-79 AESA aircraft radar systems.
- PhantomStrike, an AESA-class radar, is offered at half the price of a typical AESA radar by some U.S. radar firms.
- All new generation fighters are equipped with AESA radar, and many older fighters have been or are being upgraded to AESA radar systems.

So Turkiye replaced all f16 radars even in last 30 batch that delivered around 2010 if i am correct than what all those 240 radars go ? Will they be destreoyed and all of those relatively modern radars go to bins ?
My idea was great if they can mount them on cheap drones and trainer aircrafts

Akıncı with MURAD radar will have a complete EW self-protection suite so this is not a cheap drone.

FxDtqvXXoAAaVPl

EW Suite consists of;
Comms ESM
Comms EA
Radar ESM
Radar EA
Self Protection system (chaff/flare and probably RF decoy)
EW Pods
Karetta anti-jam system.
