The range depend what u are searching for , I would say 300 - 1000km
If they want to find a f22 steath aircraft than whats the radar range ?
It has detected a target with 31dBsqm RCS at 790km (PD 98)

You can do the calculations for how it fare be against different targets

Could you please give a source? I am a bit confused, is that a fixed version of ERALP or a new radar?

Because it's a phased array antenna that steers its beam electronically instead of steering it mechanically.


I understood it. But ground mapping mission wouldn't be too dangerous ? Repositioned antenna could reduce risks.

The radar consists of a mechanically controlled antenna

The antenna can be swivelled by ±60° in elevation and azimuth.

the radar can also interleave different radar modes, which would only otherwise be possible with phased array antennas, albeit much faster. For example, air-to-air and air-to-ground modes can be combined in one scan pass.

Just mechanical touch, it is not a rocket science 😔 might our nose radar miss air-to-ground capabilities?

At least Armed Hürjet, KE, Akıncı, Anka 3 should have such repositioned antenna.

Here ground target was in front of F-35 so the radar could worked simultaneously in two mode.
F-35 is stealthy ( low observation from enemyradars) so it has different engagement procedures and maneuvers. There is no dogfight.


EF radar locks at wide angle , could send A2A missiles from wide angle. More advantages in dogfight. İmagine F16 with stationary AESA versus EF with repositioned AESA antenna? İ would prefer EF .



I don't think F-35 could make these maneuvers .

Anyway why KE, AKINCI , Hürjet should have A2A mission radar? They should have focus on ground capabilities.
