I got a question is YIRAD now known as alp600 or something else because of the size difference. YIRAD was shown to be similar to tpy 2 and alp 600 is as big as 4 story building.
One interesting thing about YDYFR radar is that despite it being a "maritime surveillance radar" the Raytheon equalivent of it can detect and track but not target lock(because of low fidelity of the radar wave) F-35 sized aircraft from 80-120 km away and big passenger type aircraft from 280+ km away in daytime. Moreover generally is not effected by RAM painting and stealth geometry because of the huge wavelength of the radar waves(10-100 meters). I don't know if TÜBİTAK is working in this area for this project but can serve as a nice tripwire system against stealth platforms
TÜBİTAK’s 2025 activity report includes the completion of the YDYFR HF-band maritime surveillance over-the-horizon (OTH) radar project for the Turkish Navy.
We actually have the ALP 400-G development for that end, but the spaital resolution isn't impressive on its own due to the operating band. Thus, it works better when paired with higher frequency radars like ALP 300-G/ALP 100-G or optical sensors
