Does anyone know why only 20 KAAN will be delivered ? Why not 50

for instance if KAAN with the GE engine can fulfill the role of F4 /F16 wouldn’t it be better to have more of them. While we’re working on domestic engine.

Especially Hürjet seems in particular danger of being shelved while we’re dreaming of 6.gen and such.

Will it be easy to swap the F110 for the TF-35000 in KAAN airframes built using the F110?

If that is the case, does it matter so much if initial batches of KAAN have to be fitted with the F110? Ideally it would be better to fit all production KAAN with TF-35000 but if the engine is not ready in 2028, KAAN production could still be undertaken using F110 until the TF-35000 is available. KAAN aircraft fiited with F110 could be refitted with TF-3500 at a later point (and the engines removed could be modified for re-use in F-16)

That is also what I thought. People are more into R&D than atually having new modern combat redy vehicles in the armed forces.

TEI is not developing the TF-35000 engine.
TRMOTOR is developing it and TEI does assist them.
So why do you all compare the developement of the TF-6000 engine, which is TEI doing by itself?
The first priority is TF-35000, so since TEI is assisting its development, maybe TF-35000 is the first priority of TEI too, so they do not concentrate solely on TF-6000.

If I’m not mistaken, TRMotor is tasked to design the TF-35000 and TEI to built all the the necessary part and build it.

The only reason for the establishment of TRmotor is that half of TEI is owned by GE. In order to have an engine that is 100% owned by Turkey, TRmotor should produce it, not TEI. In fact, TEI will do the work, but officially it will look like TRmotor is doing it.

TEI design team (biggest), the TRMotor design team(TRMotor recruited engineers), and the Ivchenko Progress design team (their position is similar to BAE input in KAAN) work under TRMotor that way all of the design capabilities came together under a single structure to unify design efforts. It seems like this approach accelerated the engine project.

IMHO RR missed its chance. Bad for them they will lose billions. Because I expect Kaan to sell like hotcakes. There won't be any Kaan alternative on sale in 2030s. KAAN will be the only 5th gen fighter available at that size and kinematic capability with stealth and 5th-generation sensor suite. Tempest won't be around. French FCAS won't be around. AMCA won't be equal as it is a smaller fighter. F-35 will also be smaller and it comes with a lot of strings attached.

There are already a few UCAV engines developed by TEI. TEI does not have many engine types. So I can't give you an example.

I stand corrected. But if what you say is true and real designer of TF-35000 is TRMotor and TEI's TF6000 has nothing to do with it than its even worse. 6 years after that signing ceremony they have nothing to show and the engine is supposed to be ready for integration in 4 to 6 years?

And nice strawman you got going there, diesel engines and 5th gen jet engines are just the same thing of course.

Both KF-21 and AMCA also use F404 derivatives as their powerplants, making them subject to ITAR limitations.
Which limits their chances of export against the F-35.

By TRMotor recruited engineers, do you mean that they recruited engineers from both TEI and Ivchenko Progress to teach their own engineers just like when TAI recruited BAE engineers to aid and teach Turkish engineers regarding KAAN and Hurjet? Or is there other meaning?

There is no single example we have asked or GE stands the way of exported engines produced by TEI. Not so far at least

But TEI can not have the rights of TF35000: By the time TF35000 is ready, there is a possibility that GE might become obstacle. At that point, if we try to nationalize TEI, it will become far too expensive to do it. Even if we bite the bullet and nationalize TEI nonetheless, we will lose all the advantage and profits of export income being the subsidiary of GE.
