Are simsek's statements actually true?
Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir's F-35 remarks are on the agenda once again:

— The F-35 maintenance and repair center was going to be established in Turkey. They suddenly brought a condition: You will make a special section in the facility, it will be caged and locked. We will put an American there. You will not touch the core of the engine, the personnel we will put it in will bring it to you.

— Then they said: You will not touch the trash of radar absorbing paint, we will take it to America. You will not even look at the trash.

Buying the F-35 is not the issue, the real problem is the dependency it will create on you.

This is the right approach, if you want your stealth fighter to stay stealthy and hold a technological edge over others which you spent billions in R&D, this approach is very well justified. In critical technologies it's even a must, even for us imho.

I think I've read before that F35 paint has always be shipped back to the US. That was not a Turkey specific thing.

Aside from all mentioned, you can not fly the planet without an approval code from the us. Imagine you need it the most critical time and us is not providing the code !!! Only country with a code generator is Israel, of course...

I don’t understand. Who can stopp any of F-35 operators to survey the RAM paint? Just scrape of the paint a bit.

If we are American we should do the same.

Why should we(American) give technology secret to Japanese or Turks?

Everyone is stand on his own righ/position.

As a seller i hope sell products much more expensive but as a buyer i hope buy the product much cheaper.

This is not something we should accept for if we understand the reasons.

If they would've combined the vertical and horizontal stabilizer into one, it would've meant less control surfaces and a big reduction in rear rcs.
Also all future 6th gen fighters look like they're going to have this. A good example is YF-23

It's a pipe dream but I hope they make this change as it would set up Kaan to be a true 6th gen platform also, through upgrades.

Like a bloody clockwork...

YF-23 flew over 30 years ago and now in a museum and GCAP is just a mock-up. 6th gen is barely more than a concept right now, we are trying to build a 5th gen from scratch which is hard enough as it is and you want 6th gen?

How about we get enough Kaan for our protection first, then we worry about changing its design to make it 6th gen?

Or should we keep acting like kids who want their dessert before finishing their dinner and change its design and put ourselves back several years?

Concept wise, we don't even know how much a 6th gen will differ from a 5th gen.

The most important features of a 6th gen would be : AI/Autonomy and Network -Centric Warfare where the 6th gen frame utilizes and communicates both with ground and air systems such as Satellites, Drones, Radars etc.

There are of course other important features too but i personally believe that those 2 will be deciding factors of a 6th gen fighter.

YF-23 vs YF-22 debate is always the same, one is not better than the other, one design excels fully in stealth and speed while compromising maneuverability and the other one compromising on stealth to be more balanced all around and better maneuverability.

One is not better than the other, both have it's usage but YF-22 winning the competition is really normal when USAF already had so many stealth platforms.

TAI CEO said that they plan a 3rd flight this year and this site market it like they have insider information. They have to learn only to quote the source instead acting like they know more.
Besides this flight has no significance because it is still only the GTU.
Yeah, i saw this too and i just "meh" and scrolled down, it's not even exciting anymore. What exciting is too see how different P1 and P2 will be compared to the Ground Prototype.

Yeah it's one of the worst defense publications. They use photoshopped image of KAAN. They never quote their sources as you said it.

Before the actual maiden flight, KAAN was equipped with an augmented reality system and, together with test pilots on the ground, repeatedly tested its initial flight profile using the actual flight control system, gathering their feedback. This effort represents an advanced example of TAI's 'Aircraft in the Loop Testing' concept.

That looks like a huge retroreflector excellent at reflecting any radar signal back to the source. Not the best design choice for a stealth fighter.
