You sure?
KAAN 5th gen.
GCAP 6th gen.
Can't Kaan be developed further to 6th gen ? 6th gens feel like adding some spices to the meal, not a new meal itself. Is there anything in Kaan that can't fit into 6th gen other than vertical stabilizer ?

What is exactly 6 gen? I do not think ther will be big differences between 5 gen and 6 gen, only thing what makes it differences is ther is no tail. What will be important is Sensor like the Radar/IRST and EW.

The above site explaines it.
I won't believe in claims about "laser weapons" until they are actually shown, because nobody has been able to explain how to overcome the problems with power and heat generation, not breaking stealth geometry with the implementation of the weapon and how to make it borderline omnidirectional to be able to actually protect the plane from incoming missiles from different angles.![]()

Here is my non-specialist theory. Redirect the laser beam inside vacuum tubes to different locations of the aircraft. Thus the laser could be placed inside the aircraft.not breaking stealth geometry with the implementation of the weapon and how to make it borderline omnidirectional to be able to actually protect the plane from incoming missiles from different angles.
What makes a six-gen fighter to you? I'm asking because everyone answers something different.Neither KAAN nor GCAP is a 6th-gen fighter. GCAP will be 5.5th gen(which means it will incorporate some 6th gen technologies in a 5th gen body) when it comes out. KAAN will also continue its development cycle to reach 5.5th gen capabilities.
But you would still need the lenses around the planes, and you would want them to have at least some mobility to be able to track their targets, wouldn't you? Because we are talking about a plane that is going, let's say 1.4 mach while being chased by an a2a missile going mach 3 or 4 and destroying the missile before the plane is in the no escape zone should be the goal. And that zone could be tens of km for some of the advanced a2a missiles iirc. Here is my non-specialist theory. Redirect the laser beam inside vacuum tubes to different locations of the aircraft. I mean yes, it would be a very complex system which needs serious power and cooling. But IMO in theory it should be doable. But then the question is if its worth it? I would say if you want it, you have to downscale other systems like the radar and EW suite. I would choose a better radar and EW suite over a laser. But you would still need the lenses around the planes, and you would want them to have at least some mobility to be able to track their targets, wouldn't you? P1 soon, I Hope?
Tf6000 is critical. I guess we can't see any announcements about the Kaan engine because there is not enough progress on the tf6000I think everyone must be aware of th lack of clarification on engines both KAAN and Hürjet is not because the deal itself, but because we are broke and can't afford to make the deals, plus we have no leverage whatsoever. So the government is unable to get out of this spiral, and just play along until they're toppled, then it becomes someone else problem. Whether 4,5 gen or 5, 6 gen is completely irrelevant.
We're talking about a lot of things here, but we're not seeing much progress on the jets.

Our budget is open to world. You can check our account deficit and export projections. What makes you say that we have money? Not really
The govt has the money to acquire such engines since it is a matter of national security. I suggest you stop reading those rumors posted by anti-Turkey websites or those who portray to be anti-govt. The problem the turkish govt is facing is the lobbying groups against Turkey in the US. In fact, Turkey was close to sign a 20 billion dollar deal with the US regarding the F16s but reportedly postponed it to see if they would rather spend it on F35s if Turkey got removed from CAATSA sanctions
Now that KAAN is a reality, many lobby groups in the US (particularly greek and jewish ones) are pressuring the US govt to prevent any sort of engine sale especially if it includes any sort of domestic prodiction under licencse. The aim is to ensure the Israeli and Hellenic army have a qualitative edge in terms of airpower
The Greeks and Israelis are already raising alarms about Turkey's missile capabilities and the fact that Turkish softwares are installed on F16s that makes it difficult for the US to embargo the Turks and control them. Now they are trying to delay the KAAN project as much as possible until they see what they can do to either sabotage it or completely destroy it
I believe it was discussed before in this forum or another thread but the figure projected in the yearly budget is the amount of money need by the TAF to keep operating the current army and not what the army intends to produce, research, or buy from abroad in the near futureOur budget is open to world.
