I think the second point is the wrong mindset for a nation like Turkiye. Indonesia showing interest towards the KAAN is good for us, even if in the end they don't buy it. Indonesia is a friendly nation to Turkiye and truth be told probably will become a close ally as time moves forward. The Turkish establishment should always look at the bigger picture concerning these things.

But from a personal perspective if this plane succeeds it will have many buyers. Few options exist for this type of fighter jet and even fewer options exist that don't come with all the political conditions and baggage you get from buying western. Westerners use their weapon sales as influencing factors and in many cases against the interests of the nations who brought them.

4.5th gen KFX is an alternative to the 4.5th gen needs of Indonesia. It is not a competitor against Kaan. 5th gen KFX, KFX block 3, or whatever the name is, is a backup plan for KAAN. The main target of Indonesia for their 5th generation fighter needs is Kaan. but every smart nation, unlike us, reduces the risks associated with defense acquisition.

True! US sources like pentagon and LM are a bit disappointed that we are dragging our feet regarding the f16 programme. May be we are too hopeful about returning back to f35 project. US sources say that they have gone out of their way and got the 23 billion dollar f16 and V70 upgrade programme through the approval system. But only for the Turks to cancel most of it and slowing down the production of 40 F16 planes.

After Indonesia, two more Gulf countries are interested in KAAN
