“We have promised a very challenging timeline for our air force. We are still shooting for 2028… ish,” he says, with the exact date to be driven by factors also including the airframer’s supply chain – issues there already have seen it slip its schedule for the first prototype’s debut sortie beyond the end of this year.

Imo it is better to have those supply chain problems now instead of after the start of serial production. Because doesn't having them now minimize the risk of having them later?

Having supply chain issues now doesn't mean that we won't also have them later on. We also don't know what supply chain issues apart from the titanium parts. If we are still unable to get the parts and equipment necessary from Russia for example, issues continue. Supply is lacking for all over the world, but others seem to be trucking ahead with LM, Dassault, Eurofighter group and China increasing number of aircraft built in a year steadily. Even Airbus and Boeing are going in increased output.

Let's have TurAF flying KAAN actively first, then we will see the queue getting longer and longer....

FCAS will die. Germany and Spain will leave the program, and France will continue FCAS alone. Germany wants %50-50 partnership while France wants Germany to be a sidekick. I won't be surprised if Spain gets Kaan after Hurjet. GCAP will also see major delays. The US will offer Japan F-55 and F-47.

They don't even want to share the work.

"At the airshow, Dassault CEO Eric Trappier said Dassault and France should be leading the project. In a Bloomberg interview, he suggested an arrangement focused on sharing work among partners would lead to a technologically inferior solution."

If they want they can make their own plane, sure, with all the restrictions that brings. You can't just have every partner give your all their money for you to develop it and not give them any share of work.

The Europeans have a hard time working together. Everyone will be playing a different tune for FCAS. Germany will always cause problems with sales. I don't think this project has a future either.

FCAS dying is likely. But GCAP is progressing on relatively solid ground so far. (Even though there are some issues with tech sharing) IMO, thinking it will fail is wishful. Remember a demonstrator is already in production. This is about keeping British, Japanese and Italian aerospace industries alive. Those are big names and they aren't gonna capitulate.

I don't see USA offering F-47 to anyone.

2030s would interesting with so many next gen platforms. Kaan, J35, AMCA, GCAP.

France would be better off if they tried to build something like Kaan after rafale. They have all the infrastructure too. FCAS is not the optimal next step for them.

The US will offer F-47 to very close allies. Trump already announced that. There will be an export version with slightly reduced capabilities. Israel will get it to counter Kaan, and Japan will get it to counter China. I don't think GCAP will fail, but there will be a lot of delays.

BTW, F-47 will be very expensive. IMHO, Israel can afford 1 squadron with the US military aid. Japan can afford more. Israel will have no clear answer to Kaan and its loyal wingmen without F-47.

To be fair, he's right. No European company is as seasoned and experienced as Dassault in this field.

True! US sources like pentagon and LM are a bit disappointed that we are dragging our feet regarding the f16 programme. May be we are too hopeful about returning back to f35 project. US sources say that they have gone out of their way and got the 23 billion dollar f16 and V70 upgrade programme through the approval system. But only for the Turks to cancel most of it and slowing down the production of 40 F16 planes.

@alfonsvlora , you should investigate in detail before blaming a member unjustly in an ad hominem manner, which is against forum rules too.

Also below LM article is interesting about the f16 partnership with Türkiye.

I didn't mean to offend... , I apologize... sincerely🙏🙏🙏

Anyway let me ask you!
What do you think about the CAATSA sanctions? Why don't they lift them, if they were really that sincere and interested...?
In my opinion, the development of Turkish military technology has made some people's hair stand on end in the Eastern Mediterranean basin, (example Greece).
And I could send you hundreds of articles from different spokespeople of the State Department, from various lobbies, from groups of senators who occasionallysend letters to the Senate to block Turkiye, etc, etc..., andthe end goal is known:
"TO DELAY TURKIYE IN TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND MILITARY MODERNISATION" ... Especially in air technology...

As per @TR_123456 and yourself has pointed out, “to delay” Türkiye’s progress. They also know that we need them more than they need us. We have a very fragile economy. And we have two demagogues that can topple it upside down easily; one in house another as a blonde American in the States..
We don’t have the balls to reciprocate these sanctions.
They should never have been implemented to an ally.

Before I thought, why not sell KAAN to anybody who asks.
The last month or two, changed my mind.
If Turks sell KAAN to any Arab country, the enemies of Turkey would know everything about KAAN.
In any case, I don't think that they are serious

That’s exactly what I thought when they said that they want to export Anka 3 to ME and African countries. We should refrain from selling those strategic assets to everybody and their mothers, including corrupt countries.
