It says it will break the back of enemy ships, so I think a torpedo of some kind. Hoping for a supercavitating torpedo...
It says - who says? Jack of all trades? They can't even distinguish a Capsule from Torpedo, yet dare to make it out, and lead people incorrectly.

Whatever that thing is; it has no propeller but pressurized air to propel, it doesn't have features of a supercavitating torpedo - nor that i believe this one will make a debut for this IDEF, it is a capsule. The question here is what they will launch from the capsule; My bet it is either Atmaca IIR / Hybrid or Atmaca Kara, or this is some form of a coastal defence.

It is probably a capsule for sub-Atmaca, or it might be the smart capsule Roketsan has been working on.

About the ORKA, most of the modern LWTs have a diamerter around 324 mm. Is there a reason ORKA is 275mm, It's more compact it's better, however if the diameter would be kept safe maybe it could have more range? Or is ranges after 15KM is not effective for usage of ORKA?

So we also have 2 heavyweight torpedo programs as well.(after two ramjet long range missile program)

I don't know what to say other than " ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "
Better than nothing. So I am rather happy

New Heavyweight torpedo with 100 km range and 1t thermobaric warhead
A thermobaric bomb is essentially an oxygen user. It is specifically designed to operate in confined spaces where it can still access oxygen. And not suitable for underwater use.

However underwater explosions conducted that contain metalised aluminium with up to 40% boron have proved quite successful. And have provided higher degree of schockwave and detonation energy in underwater explosions than with conventional underwater bombs. Boron is the key ingredient here.

quote:
As the content of boron powders is increased, the heat of combustion of the metal mixtures increases, and the combustion efficiency of boron decreases. The highest value of the combustion heat is 38.2181 MJ/kg, with the boron content of 40%. All metallized explosive compositions (RDX/Al/B/AP) have higher detonation energy (including higher shock wave energy and bubble energy) in water than the TNT charge.
unquote.

Also hexogen-enriched novel hydrogen storage alloy has proven to have even higher explosive energy. Detonated underwater in a thremobaric fashion, this type of explosives have shown themselves to be even more destructive.

Quote:
hexogen-enriched novel hydrogen storage alloy can produce higher bubble energy than that enriched aluminum. The total useful energy was 4.7 % (160 g) and 6.4 % (500 g) higher than an explosive with the same aluminum content, and Trotyl (TNT) equivalent of 2.1 times. The heat of explosion test shows the similar result that the novel hydrogen storage alloy can improve the total energy, about 7.9 % higher than the aluminized.
unquote.

This shows that our R&D departments are not sitting on their laurels , and working hard to improve and better the munitions they already have as well as come up with novel ideas.
When you think of the fact that Akya has an explosive weight of 350-380kg; and this new thermobaric explosives carry a lot more explosive energy, and there is 1000kg of it.. plus 100km range…wow!!

Nah we don't. There is only HWT project so far and it is Akya - TN also participates in this project. MSB is trying to steal some scene - and fund some people here.

MSB R&D is ,more or less, a joke. Nothing further (insert a big period here).

Why not against both?
You can't easily track and identify surface or underwater threats beyond a range (not dropping it here). Take this 100 km (even though the project has no concrete foundation) as part of reattempt - wake trailing and so on kind of a 'total distance traveled'. Thus not the interception range, shall i iterate again that this project, more or less, is a joke to entire defence industry?

ASW and ASuW are complicated operations. The Navy will deploy USVs, UUVs, UAVs, sonobuoys and manned patrol aircraft with anti-submarine capabilities so a manned asset armed with a 100km torpedo is not dependent solely on its own sonar and can still use a long range torpedo with the data gathered from other assets.

I can't comment on their naval department, but NEB HAYALET and GAZAP don't look like money grab to me.
Strangely those two and one land rocket seems legit. But again; why do we need MSB R&D on top of SAGE, MKE, Roketsan R&D Dept. MSB R&D much lesslikely to have a production facility - what's their purpose there? Reverse engineering, vacuuming R&D from other companies and releasing it as their own?

As i understand its something like they being tired of relying on industry on a certain things they feel are being delayred too much

*Just my humble opinion*

I think the opposite way. I thought it was for trying/developing new techs and providing products or technologies to our defence industry. Either by giving them production licence or know-how. No doubt they're using the know-how from all companies meanwhile.

Shortly I thought it as another SAGE but with no production facility.

But it's not possible since they're already mass producing some ammunitions. I don't know if they said they're producing in their facilities tho.

Ok so why do we have SAGE then? Or why do we need both?
SAGE is not a sole department for R&D, it relies on TUBITAK ecosystem if you are familiar with it. They have access to facilities and know-how in other TUBITAK depts.
It is another SAGE-imitator, particularly where our tax money goes down into feeding some ATM junkies. There are good people in MSB R&D as well but whatever they seem to do safely falling within responsibility of MKE (state company), Roketsan (foundation company - also state's) and SAGE (institute). It just shouldn't exists, MSB is not responsible with R&D but outly the details and manage these R&D projects.

I did some digging about MSB ARGE and came to the conclusion that they want to be the R&D center of ASFAT. As you know, all military factories and shipyards came under the ASFAT company. ASFAT is owned by MOD, MSB ARGE is also owned by MOD and wants to be advanced R&D center of that structure so MOD will have both factories to mass produce products and develop new products with its own R&D center. You might ask to what end? There are multiple reasons. The first one is SSB and MOD not always see eye to eye. MOD is not always happy with the solutions presented to them, so now MOD can create its own solutions and produce them in its own factories. The second and IMHO real and important reason is that MOD also wants a "share" of the defence industry "pie; they want military factories to be more than just a maintenance center of TAF.

In the AKYA heavy-class torpedo project, which enhances Türkiye's deterrent power at sea, a procurement contract has been signed to maximize the localization rate and system performance.

Within the scope of the AKYA heavy-class torpedo project, a "Lithium-Based Battery Procurement Contract" was signed between ROKETSAN and Altınay Defense Technologies at SAHA2026.
