So according to various outlets the value would be at 6 Billion $, how much is true we will see if the Request is granted.

I was expecting a Eurofighter or a Gripen purchase.

Getting kicked out of the F-35 program and then asking for F-16s is pathetic. It makes us look like a joke.

And to think that our US dependency will end with F-110 powered TFX is... I don't know man.

This is why I left this forum. No vision here, no critical thinking. Just a circlejerk.
Not ending but down to a minimum.

US dependency won't end with TF-X because Turkey has no experience in that area.

I don't know why so many on this forum think that Turkey just needs to hold out long enough to start developing its own native systems. By the time the TF-X comes out, it will still be heavily outdated and Turkey will STILL be playing catch-up.

Swallow your goddamn pride for once, it's considered one of the seven major sins for a reason, it leads to nothing but ruin.
Dear lord!!!!
We and many other countries like US are still flying a 50-60 old fighter plane.

Who of the defense experts here think that a two dozen F-35 are a game changing factor? 😂😂😂😂

Greece needs hundreds to defeat us. Where will they start or landing their aircrafts if we can destroy all airports or highways in a few hours. Yes, they can really hurt us, no doubt, but the more they resists the more powerful we will harm them. No F-35 on earth can stop a massive precision missile strike.

Let's say the F-16 deal fell through.

How would Hurjet fully kitted out, let's say an uprated engine (upping the max speed to 1.6 mach), single-seat configuration, AESA radar and an assortment of Air-to-Air goodies - could it be a viable stop-gap solution? Would it be feasible to just go all out on Hurjet and get it into service before 2030?

It could very well be Turkey's Tejas, which is very similar to Hurjet.

actually that's enough, an F-35 is a networked jet, with advanced sensor fusion and unmatched data sharing and situational awareness. it's going to be a whole different level to an F-16 or any existing 4th gen jets.

The F-35 is the single most sophisticated flying machine in existence today.

But Hürjet use American f404 engine. İf America dont give you f16, why give you engines for serial production? Also Hürjet can take some missions of f16. Don't expect much.

It's a jet trainer in configuration only, if kitted out to Multi-role Light AIrcraft - with similar sensor and weapons suite as F-16BLK70 what would be the major differences take-off capacity ?

IMO we do not even need 40 new F16's.

Upgrade the blk 30/40 to Özgür level (close to blk 70), this will take several years approx to 2025, by that time also blk 50 will be old enough to modify the plane at will.
Upgrade those to Özgür+.

Around 2026-27 most likely the light fighter jet of Hurjet can come available, if needed take 50-60 Hurjet light fighters. (I am not even taking into consideration unmanned drones like MIUS)


But I do understand our air force, who likes to keep a certain number of fighters available at all time. They probably calculate with average numbers of fighter losses and want to fill up a certain number (I personally like to see that fill up with Hürjet light fighters and air force most likely rather plays on safe)

you could use this in maybe attack role, with SOM cruise missile, but it won't be enough to replace an F-16 in other roles. the HurJet is very similar to the KAI FA-50.


also, to carry avionics and sensors comparable in power and capability to the latest Vipers, you'll need sufficient engine power, that is not satisfied with a f404.

Yeah, I don't think that's an issue - if Korean's are offering KAI FA-50 with AESA radar and ECM suites.

Indian's with their AESA radar on HAL TEJAS

the closest analogue to the F404/F414 is actually the EJ-200, I read that RR (which is part of Eurojet Gmbh) had a deal with Turkey in engine development.


Not a big fan of Russian engine, the MTBO are generally more frequent than that of western engine.

Could TAİ easly replace F404 with this engines after designed Hürjet with F404 engines?
And i also hear that east block engines differently than west block engines. Can this transition make big problem for TAI or TurAF?

Not a big fan of Russian engine, the MTBO are generally more frequent than that of western engine.

Hurjet was designed with two engine configurations EJ-200 and F-404. In the end, the F-404 configuration was selected.

If the West does not provide, other sources even if they are lesser choices must be chosen in the end...
