This is the 3rd or 4th corruption scandal of Menendez. Also the second time he's being tried for corruption, first one was in 2018 and it was dropped by the court.
Menendez doesn't have to be nominated as well. He will just enter his state's democratic party primary and will just win in a landslide, probably also win the election.
And the dude is preparing his son for his spot. He's a political animal. He's not at all "done for."

Menendez is also not the only one the lobbies have, none at all. This cheering will turn to frowns if Pallone or Van Hollen replaces him in 3 months. Menendez is only a symptom, not the cause. He's not a rogue agent flying under the radar.

1. he won’t win as majority of democratic voters from NJ are calling on him to resign

2. this is bigger than the 2018 case as he has been directly indicted by the DOJ meaning he will be found guilty with a high probability

3. the democratic leadership will pressure him to resign immediately as they will have to show a clear anti-corruption stance due to the circumstances with Trump and the Supreme Court. Mendenez not resigning will be nothing but ammunition for the Republicans to pummel the Democrats with in the elections. You can be sure that Biden himself will be calling him soon.

4. he might try to hold onto his seat but that will buy him a couple weeks at best before the pressure gets to high.

5. with this his sons chances to ever hold influential office are gone as he will be forever tied to his father’s corruption

6. Pallone is a rep and as such holds no real power and can not be seated on a senate committee. Van Hollen could be yes but there other Senators who have seniority over him.

7. better even yet his fascist gift „wife“ is implicated in this whole case :)

Getting too off topic though. This is better suited for the foreign policy thread I think.

I think if US sell F-16 to us

Only mean our replacement is nearly success.

I dont think that is only one single lawmaker doing the bad thing.

Nope. Their biggest weapon is Biden. And Biden also corrupt. Trump was very well avare that fact.
Last time our leaders believed Trump could help us for F35 or F16V,but he couldnt.

By now how can a lawmaker change anything?

I have no expectations from the USA regarding F35, F16V or even F110 engines. I'm actually surprised at the people who have expectations. Not one Trump, I think the situation would not change even if the entire Senate of USA consisted of the Trump family!

I dont know why they still trust the anglo saxons after 100+ years since the battleships we ordered had been seized.

I do see where you're coming at. I also share your concerns of Pallone or Van Hollen replacing him.

But if a federal prosecutor has pulled out the receipts (like below), you might as well stick a fork in him, because HE'S DONE!

Each situation is evaluated on its own terms. Generalizations should not be made. For example, I think the real crime of the British was not that they confiscated the ships they sold when the war broke out. In war you need every ship.

The real problem with the British was something else. For example, the guns of the ships they sold before the war were out of adjustment. The ships' steam boilers were not resistant to high steam pressure. So they were selling defective ships.

Bribery and corruption are a standard practice in the U.S. political system. They just call it "lobbying".

I meant that every nation will do thing by their own right.Anglo saxons are not the special evil one or good one.

What I meant was that so many Turks generalized English-speaking countries a real Gentleman and always have the spirit of contract

Actually Western always see Russian a evil one but we still have many cooperation with them.We never expect Russian or Chinese always keep their word but so many Turks expect English-speaking countries will always keep their words and promise.

They will not sell the F-16 unless we fight with the Russia.

Resigned from the committee and Democrats already started calling for him to resign from his seat in Senate as well, which makes sense, it isn't a seat that can easily flip. He is done lol.

Anyone with a racial hatred against Turks tends to have other severe moral failings, too. I am sure his replacement will not be very friendly either but Menendez was particularly rabid. Good riddance.

For the purposes of this thread, I think Ozgur and Kaan are still the way to go but occasional parts purchase might become somewhat easier.
