Expect Turkish-American relations to worsen under the Biden administration. Probably even tougher sanctions.
To alienate Turkey more will be a critical strategic mistake by the US and it will hurt US interests in the Middle East and Central Asia more than it will hurt Turkey in the long term.

The reason we bought Russian is you can't fight America with American weapons.
Sanctions to Turkey is challenges, we love them.

Look like it is good to see Biden win the election, we would like to see the lifting of all the sanctions I would suggest, particularly if Erdogan try to be closer with Biden and act more low profile in his future foreign policy.

@Pompeo
Next time you want to visit Turkey just don't. I will be there with eggs and tomatoes to welcome you.

Really doubt Biden will do anything differently.

CAATSA bill passed 98 - 2 Senate and 419 - 3 in House.

This means all the swamp (where Biden has made his entire filthy career) is behind it strongly (both GOP and Dems).

This is massive legislature support....the executive matters very little.

But looking at already small executive role, Biden will double down on CAATSA far more than Trump.

Their (Dems incl Biden) whole narrative was that Trump was way too weak because he was compromised Russian agent and was too weak towards them (and CAATSA being something that targets Russia).

Remember Trump ran on NOT making no-fly zones in Syria (to challenge Russian forces there) unlike Hillary and Dems who 100% wanted to do this to start a regional war with Russia there.

So they will likely want to make much more example out of Russia at nearly whatever cost it takes.

You can simply google up Biden and Turkey to see what I mean. What are all the soundbites so far.

Trump "yielded" to Turkey, said Biden, adding: "The last thing I would've done is yielded to him with regard to the Kurds. The absolute last thing."

Biden's remarks illicitly conflated "Kurds" with the terrorist group YPG/PKK in northern Syria, a group that attacks Turkish security forces, kidnaps children, including many Kurds, and has tried to set up a terrorist statelet along Turkey's borders.

CATSAA execution is made by the administration, they will choose which one get the sanction and which one is not. Just look on India ordered Russian S 400 system and more recent order of fighter planes from Russia amid tension with China that are not sanction by Trump administration.

Well Biden could have called it out then if he disagrees with the execution on it.

He has done nothing of the sort. He just attacks Turkey on things that Trump doesn't....so what does that show?...and his inclination?

They all know what India position is, a non-NATO member to begin with...that never joined F-35 program deeply.

If we buy F-35 or frontline US stuff later, that come up for then (i.e US simply doesnt sell it to us and/or it never come up for negotiation). Right now we do not have the situation a NATO member has with the F-35 for S-400 issue or anything else to come up...nowhere close.

If Biden sees something super different in all this, he can announce so already as he sees it.

Biden is not going to do anything for the time being.

He'll be busy gathering his western allies and reconnecting with them. After that he will reconnect with the Arabs then ASEAN, and afterwards he'll look at Turkey.

The reason is pretty simple. They've already established YPG territory, and have bases against Turkish borders, and ensured oil financing of the terror state.

I think Turkey needs to shake up the situation in Syria, but I think we'll wait and reorganize our economy first.

I believe the world is just going to wait it out and see what Biden will do first 100 days in office.

Tbh,Trump was actually better for Turkey than biden would ever be,Its Congress who decides whether to sanction or not,and the president has to sign, its not the case that president don't want to sanction a country,it doesn't work like this.
That's a direct order from congress and the president has to follow it.
Biden imo would be more bad for even India if he goes for sanctions, despite India having soft power and influence in the congress.

He rejected current NDAA sanctions which are direct order from Congress.
So he showed Congress that he wouldnt obey them.

Sanctions Which Trump imposed are CAATSA which is different from NDAA bill.
Sounds strange but he relieved Biden and republician congressmen.
Now Biden doesn't have to impose sanctions against Turkey subject to our next reaction.

İngilizcem yetmiyor ama haberlerden anladığım kadarıyla , Trump NDAA emrini inat olarak veto etti ama bunun yanında CAATSA yaptırımı uyguladı bizim savunma sanayii müsteşarlığına. İkisi farklı şeylermiş.
Bizimkiler şimdilik SSMyi bypass ederek alım yapabilir gibiymiş.Gelecekte yaptırımlar genişletilirse kötü olur.

I wonder how much Biden will sanction Egypt as soon as the first Su-35 lands.
None, I don't really think anybody else will be ever sanctioned of buying Russian equipment.
There will be excuses of "they were not warned prior to purchase", "the purchase was made before it came into action", "the purchase does not put US presence at risk" etc.
Especially UAE has made excuse of " supplying the critical equipment from various sources which was not sold by US", will be primary excuse of anyone and will be accepted by US as an excuse.

From what i follow, US administration is trying to find a way in order to not push Turkey further to Russia.
The problem is they're not doing anything positive to improve the relations either.

Status quo will just lead to deteriorating the situation.

It is either US incompetence or they just don't know what to do. Either way US isn't able to change what they're doing.

We have our own geopolitical realities and threats we need to prepare for and fight. I hope the economy can be corrected and our debts be zeroed.
