The American ship The Ocean Glory, which reached the port of Odessa on March 24, delivered 300 tons of military equipment to the Ukrainian army. The Russian army has further increased its military shipments to Crimea and the Donbass line of contact since this date.

On March 30, the Chief of General Staff of Ukraine, Homchak Donbass, announced that 28 Russian battalions were massing in Crimea. US Chief of General Staff Milley held telephone conversations with Russian and Ukrainian Chiefs of Staff on March 31.

Simultaneously, Russian military activity in Krasnodar, Rostov and Crimea was monitored in full detail. With the end of the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, the war, which has been going on for 7 years in the lands annexed by Russia in Donbass and Crimea, is now evolving into a new stage.

Russia sends more weapon to its proxies in Eastern Ukraine

Russia reportedly has sent additional military equipment and vehicles to its separatist proxies in Eastern Ukraine.

On Wednesday, Russia-backed rebels TV channel released video footage that it said showed a new batch of UAZ Patriot light utility vehicles and heavy machine guns donated by Russia.

The UAZ Patriot is a Russian light utility vehicle. It was introduced in 2005. A facelifted version is produced since 2015. Originally it was developed as a civilian vehicle. However this utilitarian and affordable vehicle, yet with good cross-country capability, is also used by the military.

The UAZ Patriot has been exported to Armenia, Syria, and to other Russian satellite countries.

This type of tactical vehicle has never been in service with the Ukrainian army.

Russian state-owned enterprises and Ministry f Defense are among the biggest suppliers of arms and military equipment to the Russian-backed separatists in temporarily occupied territories in eastern Ukraine.

The Kremlin views Ukraine’s European choice as a major security threat and the 2014 overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych as Western-backed and aimed at isolating Russia. It wants to keep Ukraine under its pro-Western leadership unstable, embroiled in open-ended military confrontation it cannot afford, so as to return it eventually to its sphere of influence.

According to crisisgroup.org, almost 10,000 have died in the conflict, and tens of thousands of troops face each other along a 500-km line of separation.

If Ukraine doesn't fight she will come under a long term incremental occupation by Russia. Its best she fights. This all explains why the Russians were escalating trouble in Syria. I really hope Turkey backs Ukraine the same way she backed Azerbaijan, its the only chance of victory Ukraine has against Russian backed terrorists.

Russia is primarily responsible for Turkey having to home and feed 10 million arab/kurdish refugees from Syria. Turkey must not miss this opportunity.

After the collapse of the Soviet union seeing all the military hardware the Ukrainians gave up would make anybody heart broken.

For neutrality they gave up on bombers and nukes guess what the Russians took Crimea and Donbass while the USA stood there and done nothing about it.

The price to pay neutrality if only Ukraine did not give up its nukes and the hardware that they got when the Soviets collapsed. Has to be the biggest kick in the balls in the history of geopolitics.

The real question for me is what Turkey is planning to do, they cannot allow Ukraine to be alone against Russia.

Too bad we stood by and done nothing when Russia took Crimea.

Thanks to Davutoglu. This man deserves to be locked up.

Rumours I have heard are that Russia is planning an operation around north of crimea and also around mariupol area to connect the luhansk/donetsk to crimea.....or at very least to gain control of water pipe to crimea (that ukraine closed off).

The temporary water provision situation (via kerch strait) in Crimea has apparently been getting worse last cpl years or so.

The stakes are high for these lands. Russia is never going to give up its long sought warm water ports. While Ukraine wants its lands back along with revenge for what happened in 2014.

I wonder if ukraine is allowed to bring the javelin ATGMs to the theatre. Apparently at US request, they are for "show" since acquired, being kept in western locations away from front.

We might know soon.

President Zelensky made a statement on the situation in Donbass
He also noted that building up the presence of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine is Russia's traditional business to create an atmosphere of threat and pressure.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 20 dead and 57 injured since the beginning of the year is the price of defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the head of state published on Thursday, April 1.

"The sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk, our loud and firm position on Ukraine's independence and progress towards peace, and unconditional support from our Western partners annoy the enemy who invaded Donbass and occupied Crimea," the message says.

At the same time, Zelensky noted that he would like to return to the conditions when the ceasefire regime acted more efficiently, when during the months there were dozens of times fewer wounded and dead. According to him, work in this direction continues.

"The second point is building up the presence of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. Muscle flexing in the format of military exercises and possible provocations along the border is a traditional thing for Russia. Thus, it tries to create an atmosphere of threat and at the same time

He also noted that the Ukrainian army is not only strength and power, but also wisdom and balance. Therefore, country is ready for any provocations.

At the same time, Ukraine does not abandon its attempts to agree on an armistice "as the fastest tactical step." At the same time, the strategy remains - "necessarily peace and the return of our people and territories."

We will remind, on the eve of the TCG failed to agree on a ceasefire in the Donbass.
