What makes it worse is how the West promoted Haftar as some sort of Secular who is fighting the Islamists.
Not realising most of his militias came from islamist, tribal also mercernaries from Sudan, Chad and Wagner from Russia.

I heard people uncovering the Mass graves in Libya tell how fcked up it is because victims include 5 year old children who were tortured.
Living in England i remember the atmosphere towards Islam pre 9/11. I never saw or heard it being an issue to anyone non-Muslim. No one here really saw it any different then someone being Hindu, Sihk, Catholic, Protestant etc. If you said you were Muslim people didnt really treat it any different then if someone said they were Christian.
However since 9/11 there has been a ratcheting up of the media onslaught against it here. For example we never heard any western leader talk about Islam, then we heard george bush say after 9/11 that the US is not at war with Islam and Islam is a religion of peace. Basically the first statement to open up Islam into the wider conscience of the western world, then we moved down the line to Trump who said "a complete and total shutdown on all Muslims". I suspect 10 years from now we will hear western leaders talk about Islam as if its an ideological threat to the entire western way of life.
Obviously Isis, theocratic Iran and the rise of wahhabism ideology being taught across the western world generally made the perception of Islam within the non-Muslims mind as something quite negative. We all know how the same criminal act by a white guy the media labels it an attack or man with mental illness, when a Muslim does it he's a terrorist, which is a form of mental programming to tie Terrorism and Islam to mean one and the same thing. Very insidious and dark stuff.
Then in england we get the common dawah grifters, this guy for example is maybe the most popular dawah grifter in the UK saying things like this openly, which helps the properganda against Muslims/Islam.
So long story short in order to promote anyone from Muslim majority nations they have to be shown as secular and western, because westerners have been brainwashed to see islamists and islam as bad.
