Disagree. Buying even much more expensive European war machines in this pandemic era where people dying and the economy has been shrinking to -5% will not benefit him in any way in politics. Instead, it will become one of his weak track records. People will question his decision making and priority scaling abilities.

Even very personal reason like "he wants to take revenge against the U.S. who were banning him for 20 yrs" is more believable for me than politics

The deal isnt just about defence acquisition, one of the reason we get the GSP. We can all just wonder what is the end game because if what Im guessing is right then the game itself is being played as we speak.

Collective means that multiple sector/goals being approached with various kementrian working together. SWF is part of it and that US P8 "base" request is also part of it. And only they know what other goals are being pursue as well.

And Im not expecting F-35, as well as I dont give much hope on Rafale tho the French MoD already gave statement.

Vipers and Flankers will get phase out within one or two decade. Even typhoon remaining hours are pretty limited when we receive them.

Vipers are still going to be the workhorse for the Air Force until we could get our hands on 5th gen fighters.

Don't know about the Flanker.

So for those who wish our Flankers might get retired before its time might have to hold that thought
Oh btw most of Russian's missiles have less life time then the west one. Just like Flanker, their missiles might have cheaper acquisition price but they need more maintenance budget then the similar platform from the west. But again I am still a Yakhont lover

So which deal will indonesia sign later on? typhoon or rafale. for me, as a beginner I think that the diplomation tactic used by mod is to "force" US to sell f 35 (which is impossible and I don't want it) or at the end let Indonesia to buy 11 sukhoi 35.

What is in your feeling not relevan at all, what is in the doctrine of Air Force, their need and political situation along with government money dictated what Indonesia can bought and acquire
