I asked for a source. Not for an estimation. There's just under 4 million Syrians who were granted legal temporary protection status. Every family has been pumping out babies despite their situation... Then there are all the Afghans, Syrians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, etc. who crossed the border and are living in Türkiye illegally. Everyday there are videos emerging of hundreds of Afghans entering from the Iranian border. There's also those who fly to Türkiye and don't leave within 90 days... Then there are the hundreds of thousands who have received citizenship.
The number easily surpasses 7 million.
The UN only counts the Syrians that have been officially counted by the government.
Because so many people have been breaking through the border, we don't have an official number. But it's much, much higher than what AKP or the UN claim.
And I asked it to @Asena_great , since he was the one confidently giving a number which was "slightly" -13 million- higher than yours.
