The whole ordeal had made me remember that in the past we supposedly were to co-produce the Ukrainian An-70 plane to replace our fleet some years ago. Whatever happened to that? I had completely forgotten about it until this tragic accident.

We need an engine to make our own cargo transporter, tanker and passenger planes. We can wait until after our Kaan engine design work is complete for a focused work but we should start its design work as a side job at once. The world is going towards self sufficiency rather than codependency.

I can’t see propellers on the left hand side inner engine.
As per the US C130 accident shared by @Tornadoss at a previous post here, the propeller blade may have broken off and sliced the front cabin off the fuselage. Engine parts hitting the tail and fuselage plus extreme stress could have broken off the tail portion.

We can only guesstimate about it. It will take 7-10 days for the black box information to be fully analysed. So best is to wait.

But whatever the cause it is a tragic event that should teach us to take precautions so that nothing like it can happen again.

Wouldn't make sense in terms of finance. Low potential of foreign sales also Turaf doesn't expect an embargo on Logistics equipment

For how long, you would be too late to start making once you start expecting sanctions, profitability isn't everything, you need to prepare the capability. We go for an engine that can be used in all of our medium size planes which would be an Airbus 320Neo size with a 2 meter turbofan.

We need to move up the technology ladder to not get trapped in the middle income trap. We are not good at microelectronics, we are not good at nuclear, neither are we at space tech. But aviation is an easier target, even Brazil can do it although without the engines. Foreign sales can improve over time once you become a reliable supplier.

You could very well say the same words for our Kaan program yet there we are flying it, and expecting the engine to also power it.

If we can and Qatar plays along we should get all 24 from Qatar honestly.
And how do we pay it back, possibly with the Çelik Kubbe, as they need something to protect themselves and they can't wait for Kaan to come online.

Within the scope of the A400M Retrofit Project, which is being carried out under ASFAT's main contracting, the retrofit activities of the 9th A400M Aircraft of our Turkish Air Force have been completed, and following the Test Flight and acceptance procedures, the Aircraft was delivered to the Turkish Air Force with «Zero Errors».

Still don't know what that retrofit entails.

Directed InfraRed Counter-Measure?

or JUST

Retrofit upgrades enhance the aircraft’s capabilities, allowing for:

-Simultaneous parachute drops from the side doors,
-Low-altitude autopilot functionality,
-Increased cargo hold capacity,
-Maximum utilization of the overhead crane system.

Retrofit project and maintenance operations

The A400M fleet undergoes two primary types of maintenance:

-Light Maintenance (CL): Conducted every two years by the 12th Air Transport Main Base Command.
-Heavy Maintenance (CH): Carried out every six years by the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate, making Türkiye the only non-Airbus facility performing these operations.

The retrofit program consists of four phases:

  1. Dismantling
  2. Implementation
  3. Software Installation and Assembly
  4. Testing
All procedures comply with the European Military Aviation Regulation (EMAR-145) standards.

Since day one. One of the biggest mysteries of Turkish aviation industry.

Wouldn’t it be a big self-defense feature? I mean, wouldn’t we hear something about it, a hint/rumor of a directed countermeasure capability? Just speculating you know.
