Kuasar Marin designed ASFAT 3600 and ASFAT AKDG. They are relabeling the designs they have once made for some customers.

From legal perspective they might get in trouble later. IP rights belong to ASFAT as per the contract, since ASFAT also fed Kuasar with Milgem blueprints earlier, for AKDG design.

Nothing serious but a 5500 ton design for a AA Frigate by Kuasar Marin who also signed a partnership agreement with RMK Marine last year.

And nothing comes out of this, at least for TN.
TN has DPO, which individually works in concepts on their own, which also disclosed earlier that they are working on a general-purpose frigate.

Export potential, on the other hand, i am not sure but very doubtful for Kuasar. Who would buy an AAW frigate off the shelf, at least from Kuasar who is not as reputable as others in the field.

I know TN loves designing ships on their own to fully suit their needs but I think, as relations with the UK are at such a high, maybe just licensing Type 31 and fitting it with Turkish subsystem would be a faster solution, no?

Then again if they are just downscaling Tepe-Class to serve as a GP Frigate then that might be a better solution.

Not necessarily, take a look at the failed US frigate program, they tried that and it was spectacular failure. Not all navies share the same requirements for their ships, not just their systems but even the way they are built or their specific dimensions and geometry etc. Maybe it would be easier in this case, maybe not, but it certainly wouldn't be purpose built for our needs.

Well yeah but the americans are noterious for changing "off the shelf" products into development nightmares and with the Type 31 we have seen 3 different navies now model it to their needs.

Scaling down the Tepe-Class to a GP-Frigate is probably the way to go though in the end, this way TN has full control over every little detail of the ship.

Nothing solid so far. But pennant being painted etc is not a proof of anything as we've seen with Akhisar. She was all ready, had a pennant number, even her shield/crest was ready

Greece to sign deal for up to four FREMM Bergamini frigates with Italy by April 2026

Greece plans to acquire two Italian FREMM Bergamini frigates with option for two more to replace Elli-class ships and expand Hellenic Navy operations in Aegean

Greece is buying 4 FREMM Bergamini class frigates from Italy to complement the 4 Kimon/Belharra Class frigates being delivered from France, and replace te aging Meko-200HN ships. The first 2 ships will be a direct transfer from current Italian inventory; ITS Carlo Bergamini and ITS Virginia Fasan. Remaining 2 ships will follow during the course of the decade. These are 144metre long 6500 ton multi purpose (ASW, ASUW and AD) ships. For such a big ship they only have 2x8 cell VLS, and 8 AShMs. However they have two Oto Melara main guns. According to unconfirmed reports, Greeks will be paying around 700 million Euros for two initial ships (~350 million Euros each).

We are busy selling our İstif Class frigates instead of adding further vessels to our frigate inventory, whilst the Greeks are beefing up their surface fleet.

On the plus side from our point of view, these are big and bulky ships. May be cheaper to buy as second hand. But still costly to maintain. They can be good to carry the flag. But in any war scenario against Türkiye , any ship East of Crete and in the Sea of Islands will only be target practice to Turkish Kara Atmaca and SOM stand off missiles.

The oldest is from 1987 the youngest 2003,still good enough for at least another 40 years.
We also have some upgraded OHP(50 years young) class 4000t frigates.
And .... we have one new Istif class from 2024.

At the very, very least I wish they were going all in on USVs, so that we could overwhelm a naval threat through a distributed network that could attack simultaneously from different angles. Marlin can carry Çakır, perhaps even Atmaca, Ulaq can carry Kuzgun TJ, we can still threaten any enemy from stand off distances just through our USVs if we get them in high enough numbers.

I believe MKE has been building these fuzes for a long time, most our ships had a similar capability for years for 76 and 127mm. What Strales adds is the radar and the faster rate of fire.
