Similarities between Doosan and BATU engines. Probably there is ToT. Also BMC sources confirmed Doosan engine procurement.

Of course you cant expect an engine to be very different. But its almost same as Doosan one but different from MTU one.

Well this is the MTU 883 engine

Considering Turkey needs engines for the Altay (that is already designed) and her older Leopard 2A4 tanks it is obvious that the engine layout size etc. has to be same / similar. So they'd probable look very close too (and of course MTU 883 serves as a good example.

Transmission seems totally different from Doosan's transmission.
In doosan power pack , the engine and transmission are parallel. ( MTUs is also same)

But BMC powerpack like" T".

The BMC engine enters into middle of transmission. Sorry my bad english:)

Edit: transmission in the picture appears to be UTKU's.

UTKU has orthogonal T connection to the transmission but BATU is laid in parallel.

I hope. But we all know sometimes they dont say proper domestic contribution.
There are a few things that are important here.

  • Is it technically and physically enough for Altay?
  • Can it be integrated into any vehicle under our own control and sold to another country?
if BMC power can achieve this, It doesn't matter what it looks like...

It is has to fit Altay, be reliable and work. I don't care if the engine was developed with ToT, if it is a straight copy of the MTU883 or 100% the work of Turkish Engineers.

Does it work, is it reliable, does it fit Altay without problems and will it makes us more independent. Who gives a single fuck about anything else.

People get lost in discussion that in the end don't matter.

Tümosan, TEI and BMC. They can all copy, ToT or develop their projects 100% indigenous as long as the rights belong to Turkey and expand our capabilities as well make us more independent who gives a rat's ass.

I don't care how we arrive at the goal-line as long as we arrive at it.

If the other side plays dirty so can you.

True. Making it even with ToT or copying is hard. That's a success I don't think otherwise. But we are inspecting and arguing you know. If I wasn't noticed that an other guy would notice it. There is no shame in "copying" or ToT.

İ don’t believe that the likes of Osman Dur will tell “all” the truth. This administration is mad on 100% national/domestic brand.
The likeness of Doosan is so apparent that one has to be blind not to see it that Batu is a good copy of that engine. To do that without infringing on patents and IP rights, Doosan must have agreed to this copying.
But , the important point is:
Can we produce this engine freely and sell it to whoever we want?
If so than it is a locally produced engine, made in Turkey. Who cares how it is produced?
Through this TOT we now have access to technology that is the pinnacle of Diesel engine manufacturing. This will open other avenues for us. Good work done by the BMC engineers! Well done!

But this does not detract from the fact that this engine is MADE IN TURKEY!

But this does not detract from the fact that this engine is MADE IN TURKEY!

When I take a close look I see that the parts resembling the Korean engine are also resembling the German engine with the only difference with the tubular side railing. The cylinders on the left end are also one more with the BMC engine than others.
